Now, she's sharing her story and teaming up with @PuentePescadero to fight for the housing immigrant farmworkers deserve. 🌻

This is her story ⬇️
We caught a conversation on national TV last night about how housing is currently treated as a commodity in our country. But what if we started treating housing as the basic need that it is? 🤔
We can rewrite the rules if we come together. The time to #decommodifyhousing is NOW.

nobody will remember:
- your salary
- how “busy” you were
- how many hours you worked
people will remember:
- if you cared for all of your neighbors
- if you took action to end homelessness and displacement
- if you helped make the Bay Area a place where everyone belongs

100 years ago, Berkeley became the first city to establish single-family neighborhoods – an exclusionary policy that emerged as a way to keep people of color out of white neighborhoods across the US. But times are changing. [1/3]

Berkeley is now considering a bold new move: legalizing small apartment buildings citywide! This shift would've been unthinkable just a few years ago, but with the current state of unaffordable housing and rising homelessness, residents are ready for a new future. [2/3]

🚫 Have you been hearing about the CA Governor’s recent Executive Order to dismantle homeless encampments? What about the #SCOTUS ruling that gives cities permission to fine people for sleeping outside?
Here’s why we need #SolutionsNotSweeps in the Bay Area.
What these policies fail to do is solve homelessness. Sweeps and fines only make homelessness harder to solve and worsen difficult situations for our neighbors in the Bay Area who are struggling the most. [3/4]
What we should do instead is build more affordable homes, preserve existing affordable housing, keep people housed, and prevent homelessness before it happens. #solutionsnotsweeps

ICYMI: Governor Gavin Newsom issued an Executive Order to dismantle homeless encampments, which are often the only safe places for unhoused individuals to sleep and keep their belongings. [1/4]
