How to spot a narcissist (or anyone who is not safe):
Talk about how you feel.
If they deny your reality, reject how you feel, or blame you for having emotionsβyou now have awareness.
Safe people can cope with uncomfortable emotions and situations.

Youβre NOT lazy. Youβre exhausted from the grief and trauma youβve endured. A VERY real response to trauma is shutting down - according to polyvagal theory this is called dorsal vagal shut-down. Its when you freeze and maybe even dissociate, have little energy, and feel stuck. Obviously weβre accountable for the healing, AND also, please give yourself GRACE. @drjenwolkin

βAt the World Championships in Budapest, USAβs Anita Alvarez sank to the bottom of the pool.
Looking across the deck, and noticing she was under way too long, her coach, Andrea Fuentes immediately dove in after her fully clothed, pulling her to safety.
Anita was unconscious and didnβt have the capacity to kick, paddle, or help herself in any way.
If Andrea would not have noticed, she would have drown.
But she knew Anita. She looked for her, quickly noticed she was under too long, then dove in without thinking twice.
This has resonated with meβ¦.
When you are under too long, who are the people that will look for you, notice, and dive in to pull you to the surface when you lose your strength to swim?
Who are the people that would do that for you?
And can someone count on you to be that person that would go looking and notice when they are under too long, diving in to support them when they are all out of fight and fuel to swim in these turbulent waters we call life?β

See this guy right here?
His name is Kahlief. At some point in time on Friday night, while working at the front desk at the Hampton Inn, Kahlief looked up to find a random kid standing in front of him asking if heβd like to see a card trick.
Let me tell you all the stuff Kahlief didnβt know.
He didnβt know that this little boy has autism.
That learning and doing card tricks is a passion of his because it helps to quiet and focus his brain as well as keep his hands busy.
He didnβt know that this little boy lost his dad a few years ago, has been on the waiting list for a βbig brotherβ for well over two years now, and lives with only his mom and sister, so very much misses interacting with male figures.
Kahlief didnβt know any of that, and was still kind enough to say βyesβ.
He very easily could have told Colin he was busy, or to come back later, or any number of things, but he didnβt.
He allowed Colin to hang out at the desk with him for what felt like forever, watching Colin do card tricks and then showing Colin some tricks that he knew as well.
He paused when he needed to, when the phone rang or a customer came in, (in the pic he is on the phone, the person he was speaking to had him on hold), but he never once made Colin feel like he was a nuisance or a burden.
In fact, when we saw that he had returned for another shift the following day, he made it a point to let Colin know he was geared up and ready to go with more card tricks.
So this kind man took time out of his day again on Saturday, still not realizing what a huge impact he was having on Colin, because he was still completely unaware of all the things about Colin he did not know.
I love and live for feel good moments like this. It is so easy to be kind, yet seems to be such a rare occurrence these days.

"A four-day workweek might not be as unreasonable an ask as it would have been even five years ago. A new survey of more than 1,000 US workers found that nearly nine out of 10 US employees are interested in the idea."

1. Keeping score.
Keeping score feels good to the wounded parts of us. It validates our pain and it's our attempt to get our partner to see that pain. In reality, it only creates defensiveness and division in our relationships.
