ROAD SAFETY TIP | MONDAY A safe journey begins before you start the engine. Before setting off, check your tyres, brakes, lights and indicators. Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy, adjust your mirrors, fasten your seat belt and make sure every passenger is properly secured. Never begin a journey when tired or distracted. Taking a few minutes to prepare can prevent road crashes and save lives. Let safety be your first priority every time you travel. #TofiiraKuKkubo #Tweddeko #ArriveAlive – at Kampala, Uganda

This is alarming! Sugarcane trucks operating at night without functional tail lights and reflectors are a serious road safety hazard. These trucks can be almost invisible to drivers approaching from behind, leaving little time to react. Most of them don’t have side mirrors. Authorities must enforce strict vehicle visibility standards, and truck operators must ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before every journey. No load is worth a life. @MoWT_Uganda @ainbyoo @HonByamukama @PoliceUg @M_Kananura @JuliusBaguma12
This incident happened yesterday in lugazi around midnight, a salon car knocked that sugarcane truck from behind, they tried to separate it but it failed.. The driver of the truck continued driving, the owner of the salon car survived but with serious inquiries..

We are turning road safety lessons into practical experiences at Hoima Public School, guiding children through safe crossing at a zebra crossing and helping them develop safe road use behavior that extend beyond the learning environment. Through these practical learning experiences, children are equipped to become road safety ambassadors, carrying their knowledge beyond the school environment to influence safer road use among their peers and communities. To other road users: When a child sees a driver stop and allow a pedestrian to cross, they witness road safety in action. When a driver or rider disregards a crossing, it sends a different message. Let’s make sure our actions teach the right lessons. #RoadSafety #BehaviourChange #SafeWayRightWay

This driver should be apprehended and penalized for reckless driving @PoliceUg @M_Kananura
Per the first responder's statement, the recklessness shown in this video is what led to the death of Dr. Asiimwe in Tanzania. And while the team was returning from Asiimwe's burial, this happened. Please, @PoliceUg, get that HAICE driver and make an example of him.

Overspeeding by more than 70 km/h in a built-up area is extremely dangerous. Speed limits exist to protect pedestrians, cyclists, passengers and other road users. Where reckless speed puts lives at risk, there must be firm enforcement and accountability. Road safety cannot be treated as optional. @GovUganda our road system is not forgiving enough to accommodate mistake by road users. @GovUganda @MoWT_Uganda @assempebwa @PoliceUg @M_Kananura @RcMorningTide
This driver should be arrested and charged for negligent driving. How do you overspeed by more than 70 km/h in a built-up area? That is not a small mistake or a momentary lapse in attention. The question is simple: what exactly was the driver thinking would happen at that speed? A built-up area is precisely where speed limits exist.

3,000 Ugandans drown every year. Eight every day. We already know what can prevent many of these deaths: survival swimming, trained community rescuers and real lifejackets. But prevention needs all of us. Drowning prevention. You have a role. #3000Campaign #DrowningPrevention
