Today is #CarersRightsDay, an event organised each year to raise awareness of the rights and entitlements of unpaid carers.
@lan_carers is proudly supporting Carers Rights Day.
#CarersCantWait
Systems and budgets often mean that #carersrights aren't made reality. This has to change
Only 20% of carers say their rights improve their quality of life.
The Government needs to do more to support carers and deliver better rights

For #CarersRightsDay we've collaborated on a new report with @CarersScotland, which estimates the value of #unpaidcare in Scotland is worth £15.9 billion.
Without unpaid carers our health and #socialcare systems would collapse.

No better way to kick off #carersrightsday than at the launch of @CarersScotland brilliant research on the value of unpaid care. There are figures in here we simply cannot ignore.

COSLA's Health and Social Care Spokesperson, @cllrpaulkelly, delivered a keynote speech today at the Collaborating for Carers Conference, organised by @CarersTrustScot. Cllr Kelly emphasised the vital role of carers in our communities & thanked colleagues for supporting carers.

ALT A photo of COSLA Health and Social Care Spokesperson, Councillor Paul Kelly, speaking at a lectern at the Carers Conference 2024, with a quote from Councillor Kelly's speech which reads: ""I truly believe that without carers, there would be no health and care system. The value of unpaid care provided by carers in Scotland is £12.8 billion per year – that’s the equivalent of a second NHS. For those who require their care to live their lives, this support is invaluable."
Thought provoking day spent with local carers services at @CarersTrustScot #collaborateforcarers conference. Thanks to all our speakers, which included Carers of East Lothian, East Lothian HSCP & @cllrpaulkelly
Fantastic opening remarks from our panel around collaboration across the sector
