I don't think anyone in this country wasn't influenced by Dolly Parton. She was always kind. She was always giving. She always cared about others. Philanthropy was everything to her.
I spent some time with Dolly twice in my life. Once, my husband and I met her at Trader Vic's in Beverly hills. She saw us and asked her to join her table. She was bubbly and full of life. We talked about music, makeup and wigs. She made you smile. She made you feel like you were part of her life and I think she did that for everyone.
The second time I was with Dolly was when she debuted the world premiere of her "9 to 5: The Musical" at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles in September 2008. I went to the pre-party and walked over to the theater with her. People wanted to mob her but she was talking on her phone and kept walking. Throwing smiles and waves at everyone. She told me she never wanted to disappoint anyone but sometimes she just needed her quiet. I don't think she was talking to anyone on the phone. She just needed her quiet.
Dolly has her quiet now. I can't help but cry. This icon. This angel on earth gave so much to so many.
You will live in our hearts forever. Dolly's story was truly one of a kind. RIP – at Los Angeles, CA
