this is a reality being conflated w real neuroticism on the debate around watching kids. as added perspective im a very hands off parent even though im the mom & primary caregiver. but we still have a military style handoff w kids <2 & its not neuroticism;

I think this conversation on the overall is too gendered. What they're talking about absolutely happens in our household, except in reverse because in our household I am the primary caregiver. I have to tell my wife if I'm leaving the room. She doesn't have to tell me.
This despite the fact that I am more of a "guy" when watching her (I give the girl a wider berth, she keeps her on a tighter rein, etc).
So I don't think it's a "theory of the mind" thing as much as it is a role ambiguity thing. Once I figured it out, things worked a lot better.
I think it's something women complain about because they are more often in my role than my wife's, for reasons often fair and often not, and it's part of a larger point of aggravation (whereas for me it's not).
not only is this a reel of the saves, but a lot of the close saves here prove the opposite point. esp the ones with the younger toddlers / babies. snatching the stroller just before the street, the one tipping off the couch - a close save looks cool & is a screw up w v young ones

Nothing should be that surprising either... and yet, looking into this, I 𝘸𝘢𝘴 surprised. Looking at various numbers somewhat helped me visualize + plan projects over the rest of my life.

Ayn Rand predicted the precise motivation for this. It wasn't resentment or envy so much as a deeper, more terrifying motivation: hatred of the good for being the good.
It's very difficult to understand that they don't want to be us. They don't want what we have. They hate us precisely because we're good.
They don't want to have our civilization. They despise that it exists at all. They hate our excellence because it is excellent.
I cannot stress that point enough. They hate us because we're good NOT better than them, just because we're good at all. They see beauty and it fills them with a desire to deface it. When they see us help an animal, they're filled with a desire to hurt it. When they see us look to the stars, they want to gouge out our eyes.
This is arguably the darkest of all human motivations.

There's basically no way to say "the best cultural mores are concentrated in majority white countries" without being called racist, yes.
This is because the people most invested in calling people racist are not actually against racism per se. They instead have a religious belief that "racism" is really just original sin for whites, & that whites & the West must atone for their sins by giving up the fruits of their labor & the safe, prosperous societies they have built to non-whites who had nothing to do with building such societies & have not assimilated to any such cultural attitudes.

At the airport, watching a dad with his probably seven-month-old. He has her in the air, shifting her around mechanically, like a robot. She’s kicking her legs and squealing.
Mom comes back from the bathroom and immediately straps the baby to her chest. She leans in and snuggles.
Nobody tells Dad to engage in stimulating play with his child. Nobody tells Mom to pull her close and soothe her.
They interact with the same child differently because men and women are different.
Children don't need two adults tossing them in the air. They don't need two parents soothing and comforting them. All stimulation and no security leaves them unmoored; all comfort and no challenge leaves them afraid to venture out.
Children need one parent who promotes attachment and one parent who promotes independence.
Children need a mother and a father.
A culture that treats either one as optional asks children to go without so adults can feel affirmed.
This should probably be enough on its own to return everyone from their country or religion back.

My wife has said "Yes sir!" to me multiple times a day for quite a while now. Not because I demand it, but because she respects me.
On a totally unrelated note, we have an incredible marriage, full of mutual honor and love. I would work 4 jobs to provide for her if I had to. She would do anything to help me accomplish my mission.

The difference here between men and women, often, is that if mom walks out of the room, it’s not a given that dad will orient his attention to the littles without mom calling attention to her leaving the room. Whereas when dad leaves, mom’s attention shifts without being asked. This isn’t crazy irrational neuroticism, it’s just that we have our antennae up with littles in a way that men don’t tend to, we are always the default caregiver in a way that men don’t recognize is quietly happening in the background.
If you're a married man you need to be occasionally "dropping in on how your wife's brain is working" otherwise you'll be blindsided by where her worrisome thoughts will take her, for example that she's been secretly fuming for months at totally fabricated problems like that she "can't go to the bathroom whenever she wants but her husband can"

You know what fascinates me about stories like this? It illustrates how much we hate one but not the other. How much we criminalize one but not the other.
Did you know, for example, that sharing "revenge porn" is illegal pretty much everywhere? Even if it's pictures a man himself has taken with her full consent. If he later shares them in a context that shames or humiliates her he risks prison.
But what about women? See, men and women are very different in how that aspect of their person manifests. Men are visual creatures and so uh.. "seeing is believing".
Women are more "story" oriented.
Men can go to prison for sharing pictures women don't like, but can women go to prison for sharing stories men don't like?
A woman, such as herself, will be properly scandalized and enraged because men shared OF pictures of her in response to her being political.
Alright... how do you think she'd respond if women shared the intimate history of a male politician she didn't like? Think she'd be anywhere near as enraged?

You know what's even stranger? I've never had a man bring this point up to me, I've always brought it up to them.
Why is revenge porn illegal but revenge histories are not? Both of them are demeaning, both of them are done expressly to humiliate, both of them involve sex, both of them are self expression, both of them are easily transmittable, reproducible and follow their subject for life.
But only when the primary victim is women does it become illegal. Funny that.

This is the main reason normal schooling seems dumb to me. It does not take 8 hours to give a child a basic education and it's well past the amount of time a child under 12 should devote to academics every day. 1-2 hours is more than enough. It's just for baby-sitting for dual income households.
