It’s greedy corporations, supermarkets, and suppliers constantly checking their profit margins and share holder dividends.
Quality has suffered too.

Last thing they said to me before NOT giving me the car I booked and paid for - "We wont charge you a cancellation fee." No shit! You cancelled. £500 out of pocket.
