…often asked what my specialty is & am somewhat forced to choose between my great loves: Organic Chemistry & Basic Physics.
I cant choose 🤫
I’m a QOL Physics Researcher, & Artisanal Organic Chemist.
Combining both in efforts to better communicate + live as human beings ⚛️

Plaster and whitewash are ancient building materials with simple chemistry. #NationalChemistryWeek
Limestone (calcium carbonate) is ground and baked in a kiln which drives off carbon dioxide to make quicklime (calcium oxide). Limekilns found at ancient ruins can be evidence that limestone artifacts have been looted and destroyed to make quicklime.
Added water is absorbed into the material for a paste of slaked lime (calcium hydroxide). The paste can be diluted for whitewash or fixed with sand, horsehair, or other materials for lime plaster.
As the lime dries, it absorbs carbon dioxide from the air to return to an insoluble, bright white crust of calcium carbonate.
The famous fence-painting scene in Tom Sawyer involves the title character tricking passers-by into paying for the privilege of whitewashing Aunt Polly’s fence.
Fresco painting involved applying pigments to plaster as it dried, trapping the colors. Artists had to work fast to create their artworks. The ceiling of the Sistine Chapel and da Vinci’s Last Supper are examples of fresco paintings.
Plasters and white washes also appear in the Bible:
The writing on the wall (Daniel 5:5) was inscribed in the plaster. Christ compares the Pharisees to whitewashed tombs: “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside, but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.” (Matthew 23:27 BSB)
DMT continues to express its robust biological performance.
I first experienced the regenerative properties of DMT & Ayahuasca back in 2013, when suffering from a pretty heavy case of HPPD. DMT proved at that time to be an incredible tool for my own healing & transformation.⚛️
DMT and Neuroprotection via the Sigma-1 Receptor
DMT (N,N-dimethyltryptamine) activates the sigma-1 receptor (σ1R), an intracellular chaperone concentrated at mitochondria-associated endoplasmic reticulum membranes (MAMs). These contact sites regulate calcium signaling, energy production, and cellular stress responses. When σ1R is engaged, it helps stabilize the system under conditions that would otherwise damage or kill neurons and glia.
Most of the clear protective data come from exogenous DMT, which reaches concentrations sufficient for robust receptor activation. Endogenous levels are typically much lower, so any natural contribution is likely subtler and more localized.
Key findings include:
• Hypoxia resistance — In human iPSC-derived cortical neurons and immune cells, DMT significantly increased survival under severe oxygen deprivation. Protection was abolished by σ1R knockdown or antagonism and linked to reduced HIF-1α activity (Szabo et al., 2016).
• Ischemia and stroke models — Exogenous DMT reduced infarct volume, improved motor recovery, limited apoptotic and ferroptotic cell death, supported astrocytes, and shifted cytokine profiles toward anti-inflammatory patterns. Effects were blocked by selective σ1R antagonists (Nardai et al., 2020; Szabó et al., 2021).
• Adult neurogenesis — DMT stimulated neural stem cell proliferation, neuroblast migration, and generation of new neurons in the hippocampal subgranular zone. Memory performance improved in treated animals. These effects depended on σ1R rather than classic serotonin receptors (Morales-Garcia et al., 2020).
• Neurodegenerative models — In Alzheimer’s mouse models, chronic DMT improved cognition, reduced amyloid accumulation, restored σ1R levels, and normalized ER–mitochondria communication and mitochondrial function.
Collectively, these studies indicate that σ1R activation by DMT supports neuronal and glial resilience through improved bioenergetics, reduced programmed cell death, lower inflammation, and enhanced plasticity. While the preclinical evidence is consistent, translation to clinical applications still requires careful evaluation of dosing, timing, and safety.

The entire point of life is to take actions on dreams that seem crazy to most. But feel like destiny to you
Procrastination is always some type of fear.
It may not always be the same type of fear, & that part is for you to determine case by case.
Identifying these fears, clears the path for rapid exponential expansion into more of who you are. ⚛️

The end of summer means pokeweed berries are ripening, but they're toxic, so don't eat them! Also known as inkberries for the dark purple juice of the berries. The pigment, prebetanin, is related to the purple of beets.
