BC has 2 Pediatric cardiac surgeons for the entire province. "They work their asses off. You loose 1 or can’t replace one at retirement and we are in a lot of hurt. Getting votes by demonizing hard working people has lost any remaining support I held for some of the NDP policies."
- Dr. Kevin Mcleod, Internal Medicine Specialist for the North Shore of Vancouver and Whitehorse.
BC NDP proposed provincial income tax increases are NOT a so called millionaires tax.
The 2% increase starts at $190,405 to $265,545 - upping the rate from 16.8% to 18.8%.
On Income from $265,545 to $1 million the rate increases from 20.5% to 22.5%.
Income above $1 million: A new top tax bracket would be introduced at 24.5% - Pushing the top marginal provincial/federal rate to 57.5% on income over $1 million - the highest in North America.

I've voted BC NDP before, but @Dave_Eby this is a mistake. Earning $190K in Vancouver doesn't make you rich. These are doctors, lawyers and accountants still paying off student loans, raising little kids and trying to save 20% down in one of the most expensive housing markets in the country. Push them harder and many will leave, and take their work, jobs and brain gain with them.
NEW - @Dave_Eby proposes to raise income taxes on top two brackets by 2 percentage points, to generate $1b in extra revenue for BC.
• $190,405-$265,545 will go from 16.8% to 18.8%
• $265,545-$1m will go from 20.5% to 22.5%
• New $1m+ tax at 24.5%

Correct but why should someone who is already paying 53.5% pay even more. It completely disincentivizes working harder. These new increases kick in at around the 200k earning mark. Government is already being forced to pay many many thousands of dollars a day and they still can’t fill shifts.

Germany was once the world's most technically proficient country, a culture and economy characterized by systemic order, whose dual training system and mittelstand economy made it the global powerhouse in engineering and manufacturing.
That's what makes its insane energy policy of the last 20 years so astonishing.
How did such a smart, left-brained country allow Gaia-worshipping Green ideologues to capture energy policy and drive Germany towards economic suicide?
- They shut down their nuclear plants, the only zero GHG emitting source of reliable energy;
- They refused to develop their own natural gas resources, but became almost completely dependent on Russian conflict gas for baseload power (with former Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder ending up on Putin's payroll;)
- They spent at least $700 billion euros ($1.1 trillion CAD) on their "Energiewende" energy transition since 2005, reducing GHG emissions by around 330 million tonnes while more than doubling electricity prices;
- The 330 million tonne reduction is equal to about 0.5% of current global GHG emissions. In other words, $1 trillion spent, and a doubling of power prices, for virtually zero impact on global emissions;
- Over the same time, China doubled its GHG emissions, by about 7.6 BILLION tonnes. So China's increase in GHG emissions was 23 times larger than Germany's reduction in emissions over the last 20 years.
- Meanwhile, China built over 2000 new thermal coal power plants since 2005, adding about 580,000 megawatts of installed power to its fleet, about 9 times more than all of Germany's power production;
- German power prices now run about 4 to 5 times higher than China's, and German industrial output is now at 2005 levels, following two decades of hemorrhaging manufacturing to China;
So here are the results of Germany's $1 trillion Green policy fiasco:
- two decades of economic stagnation and de-industrialization
- enrichment of Putin's regime
- hyper charging the Chinese economy
- increasing energy poverty, and consequently fuelling the growth of the hard right AfD as the only party to challenge the elite consensus on energy policy
- all while making no measurable impact on global emissions.
And here's the kicker: they are still committed to the same energy transition policy, which will cost $ trillions more, while Germany faces "structural decline" and "free fall."👇
Decline is a choice. A choice that German voters and elites have made. What a shame.
Expensive German climate policy:
Germany faces “structural decline” and is in “free fall”, with price increases “across the economy”
Real German electricity price 222% of price in 2000 (households+industry)

The BC New Democrats seem to be the last gasp of Trudeauism. Anti-growth redistribution, excessive identity politics and preening progressivism. Even as the federal Liberals distance themselves from the “lost decade”, David Eby is determined to double down on its failures.

AI won’t take your job. Someone who knows how to use AI better than you, will take your job.
We’re already starting to see what kind of new jobs AI is creating.
AI requires significant technical work and surrounding services to deploy into the economy. This means jobs for AI engineers that build applied AI products sold to (or within) enterprises, FDEs to deploy agents into companies, new services firms for deploying AI, and more.
And even the published stats of new jobs undercount all the existing jobs that are transitioning to new areas of AI work in an enterprise. Many prior data, research, and software jobs large enterprises are also being repositioned for working with AI.
Every bank, life sciences company, manufacturer, and even law firm is bringing on more technical talent -or repositioning existing roles- to help with agent deployment in their companies. It’s a lot easier to picture what AI can replace vs. what it creates until it starts happening. Now we’re seeing what this looks like.

I'm nominating David Eby for Alberta Business Booster of the Year! 🥇
If he wins, this👇will give BC the highest marginal tax rates in North America, prompting lots of high income British Columbians to move to Alberta and / or shift their income here.
That includes a lot of the doctors he's trying to recruit.
(Reminder: the top 1% of income earners in Canada already pay 22% of income taxes.)
NEW - @Dave_Eby says he will create a new tax bracket on people who earn more than $1m annually, to tax the wealthiest British Columbians to help pay for health care costs.

LOTR might genuinely be one of the greatest things humans have ever put on a screen and I’m not even exaggerating. You can watch it as a kid and think it’s about hobbits and swords and this terrifying ring. Then you watch it as an adult and realize it’s basically about everything that actually matters.
Power corrupts people and evil usually starts really small..Good people can be tempted and courage isn’t about being fearless. Friendship can literally carry you when you can’t carry yourself anymore. The smallest person in the room can change the course of history. You do the right thing not because you know you’re going to win, but because it’s the right thing to do.
Honestly… I think it should be mandatory viewing for kids at some point. Not just “watch the movie” but actually dissect it. Why does Boromir fail? Why can Sam resist what other people can’t? Why does Frodo show Gollum mercy? Why is Aragorn a good leader when he spends half the story reluctant to have power? What happens when someone becomes consumed by resentment, fear, or the desire to control other people? Then make kids apply those questions to their own lives. Friendship, temptation, loyalty, courage, responsibility, choosing who you want to be when nobody is forcing you to choose correctly. There are probably more useful lessons about becoming a decent human being buried in those movies than in half the stuff we make kids memorize in school…and those are learnings and lessons that would stick and could carry you through all of life.
My favorite part is that the heroes aren’t these invincible characters either. They’re tired, scared, tempted, and completely outmatched. Half the time they have no idea what they’re doing but they just keep going….
Then somehow Peter Jackson took ALL of THAT and made three epic movies at the same time, filled them with real sets, real landscapes, thousands of extras, incredible music,… and made something that still looks better than movies being made with $200M budgets 25 years later.
I really don’t think we’ll ever get another thing like it.

Eby is such a jerk.
Jimmy Pattison is one of the greatest British Columbians ever. He has likely created more jobs than anyone in BC history, and has been BC’s greatest philanthropist and booster.
Eby’s attack on a 98 year old model citizen is a gross appeal to class warfare and the politics of resentment. The NDP at its very worst.

David Eby seems to think being a billionaire is something to be condemned.
Maybe he should take a look at what Jimmy Pattison has actually done for British Columbia.
• EXPO 86: Pattison worked virtually full-time for five years without compensation to help make Expo 86 a reality and putting Vancouver on the world stage
• Health care: He donated $75 million to St. Paul’s Hospital, described by the B.C. government as a historic contribution to Canadian health-care philanthropy. (BC News)
• Royal Columbian Hospital: He donated $30 million toward the redevelopment, with the new acute-care tower now bearing his name.
• Surrey health care: He donated $5 million toward the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre, helping fund equipment and attract physicians.
-Vancouver General Hospital: donated $20 million to VGH
-He made major contributions to Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, Burnaby, Kelowna General and Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital. A 2024 grant record shows nearly $20 million in foundation grants in one year, much of it going to B.C. health care.
- Children’s health: the Pattison Group, has contributed tens of millions of dollars to B.C. Children’s Hospital, including $15 million for its family immunization clinic.
• Jobs and investment: The Pattison Group grew from a single Vancouver car dealership into a major Canadian business empire employing thousands of people.
So when David Eby looks at Jimmy Pattison and sees only “a billionaire,” British Columbians should remember what Pattison has actually contributed.
He built businesses. He created jobs. He invested in our communities. He helped put Vancouver on the world stage. And he has donated millions to help British Columbians receive health care.
We should be debating how to create more success stories like Jimmy Pattison not denigrating people simply because they achieved extraordinary success.
B.C. needs more builders, more investment and more ambition, not politicians who turn success into something to be ashamed of and using him for cheap political talking points

Exactly the kind of practical cooperation we should be pursuing with the EU.
To my Conservative friends: instead of cranking the volume to 11 on imaginary EU taxes and open borders, here's an idea: get ahead of the Liberals by specifying all sorts of concrete, practical ways to increase cooperation and commerce with the EU.
This is big.

Insane. Tax hikes for condo developers, tax hikes for out of province owners of real estate, going after oil companies and grocers. He has gone full on Mandami. BC is finished economically if they re-elect this guy.
Today in Kelowna I committed to taking on the grocery giants to protect your family from rising costs.
Big grocery chains have been using inflation as cover to jack up prices, while the billionaire families behind Loblaws and Save-On grew their wealth by $4.4 billion last year alone.
My plan:
1. Cap corporate profits on milk, eggs, butter, cheese, chicken and turkey
2. Stop them from blocking new grocery stores
3. End shrinkflation with clear unit pricing
4. Ban surveillance pricing
5. Give local grocers a fair shot with a new food terminal in the Lower Mainland
The conservative parties won't stand up to the grocery giants. I will.
Let's keep building BC strong.
