I could go on all day about it, but there's not one single event that caused CN's downfall. It was a combination of factors that had a domino effect and led to where we are today.
- The 2007 ATHF movie stunt (which was the catalyst for everything, but CN temporarily bounced back during 2010-2015)
- The 2008 financial crisis
- The disastrous scheduling and programming decisions during 2016-2021 which permanently altered public perception of the linear channel
- The 2019 AT&T merger
- The 2022 Discovery merger
- The 2026 Skydance merger
- The layoffs and corporate shakeups that resulted in projects getting cancelled or retooled after mergers
- Corporate greed in general
- The Covid pandemic and lockdowns
- Miscellaneous real world factors outside their control throughout the 2020's such as the "culture wars" and the US economy struggling/cost of living crisis
- The downfall of traditional cable TV
- Demographic shifts also due to cord cutting
- CN gradually losing more airtime to Adult Swim since 2014 to the point of becoming the block and Adult Swim transforming into the main channel
- CN being moved to more expensive cable packages, resulting in even less viewership
- TV networks and streaming platforms in general not wanting to take risks due to the volatile state of the entertainment industry and economy. Because of this, creators instead take the indie route these days.
- The rise of streaming (this is where CN could have potentially had a strong second comeback via HBO Max originals, but they also blew this opportunity)
(Third time trying to post this because copying and pasting text on Twitter does not carry over spaces for some reason)

Depends what you want out of your rap, sonically? Awful. Lyrically? Elite.

This sounds optimistic but I feel like over the next 5-10 years it won't be this way and that we'll be in a new age where cartoons and cable are good again
