My litmus test for a comic book cartoon series was always if they could have an episode without any rogues gallery members and still make it interesting. This show did it so often I lost count.
It makes me angry that we have a definitive Batman show which is able to perfectly blend pre and post crisis material together perfectly. I wish we could long for a perfect adaptation like other fandoms on here.
It stood apart by being very much its own thing. It took plenty of inspiration from comics and specific stories, but had a style and approach that were its own.
