#privacidad #radio 📻

A call for scientists to halt the spoiling of the night sky with artificial light and satellites
Scientists should do more to stand up to ‘big light’ and ‘big space’ and preserve this natural resource.

After 15 Year of posting about my passion for NASA and specifically the DSN, I'm finding it harder posting as an individual within the new NASA media framework. Its been a pleasure sharing my experiences and hopefully people have enjoyed them. All the best 😀

After every post we make about handwritten we are told the compiler can do a better job. Here's a great example (from HN user ack_complete) showing numerous compilers making a mess of a simple saturated add (a single paddusb on x86):

The 10-hour blackout in Spain confirmed that switching power supplies have destroyed amateur radio. 10 hours of noise-free bands and extremely weak signals with crystal-clear audio. Just incredible! But everything went to hell when the power came back on.

Spain is censoring the internet by blocking @vercel CDN IPs, which is the front door of millions of applications and websites.
We’re working hard on mitigations to restore freedom of speech as we can, as they’re uncommunicative, secretive & undeterred by users’ complaints.
Vercel's principal engineer verifying how @movistar_es and @LaLiga are blocking a whole country (Spain) from using their services.
This makes my blood boil, how TF is this allowed? I swear we live in China.

We used the historic Dwingeloo telescope to bounce a signal off the surface of Venus, and receive its echo! This marks only the second time that amateurs have achieved an 'EVE' (Earth-Venus-Earth) bounce. Venus was about 40 million kilometers from Earth.

Their 3 mm diameter, 50 W continuous-wave single-mode photonic-crystal surface-emitting laser (PCSEL).
Look at all the ribbon bonds to inject >100 A current into this little chip, liquid cooled with 6°C water.
No other semiconductor lasers could rival PCSEL's power density, linewidth (3 pm), and beam quality & divergence (0.05 deg), that are approaching gas, solid state, or fiber lasers.
