Claude generated 318,484 protein designs in just 64 hours, working largely autonomously from one initial prompt and four follow ups.
Researchers tested 211 candidates in the lab, and 17 successfully bound to four dangerous scorpion toxins, a promising first step toward new antivenoms for stings that kill more than 3,250 people annually, mostly children.
Anthropic is releasing all 211 tested designs and their data.

We're excited to share results from our latest wet lab campaign with @AnthropicAI and @citrini.
Claude designed novel proteins to neutralize scorpion toxins and we tested 211 of these protein designs in our automated wet lab. 17 of them showed binding to the toxins in our experiments, with all data now available on @proteinbase.
This is a great example of what we're building towards: A world where anyone can run drug discovery campaigns on our automated wet lab.

GLP-1 drugs may not be the first anti-aging drugs. Some drugs from the 1950s and 60s also slow aging. Nobody identified them well at the time.
Drugs that extend life also tend to be anticancer. Some old drugs prescribed for other conditions turn out to have lowered cancer incidence in the patients who took them. I expect more of those drugs to come back as cancer drugs.
