The Fresno Police Department falsely smeared an elected official just a week before the election and, yes, it is it as bad as it sounds: 1. Fresno PD pulled over Naindeep Singh for a pretext registration check and then accused him of driving under the influence of drugs. 2. Naindeep passed a breathalyzer test and volunteered to give blood/urine samples. 3. PD took him to the hospital and got the tests done. 4. Naindeep also had another urine test at the same hospital and the reports are negative for drugs. 5. Fresno PD and City leadership immediately ran to media and got wall-to-wall coverage that Naindeep was arrested for DUI. 6. Fresno PD refuses to release their own test results, saying it will take weeks. It is a violation of Naindeep's civil rights under the US and CA Constitution, particularly while votes are being cast, for Fresno PD to rush to publish the DUI investigation but not the test results that would exonerate him. City leadership could get those results in hours, just like Naindeep did. There are two things happening here. First, Naindeep has been running a progressive campaign that holds police and city leadership accountable for their failed policy agenda. Second, there is a widely opposed multi-billion dollar real estate development at risk if Naindeep is elected. The people of Fresno are rallying behind Naindeep and this will backfire against the City and Fresno PD. They have only made his voice louder and more powerful. Sikhs are in Chardi Kala and more motivated than ever to defeat corruption in Fresno.
Through his work at @JakaraMovement, 2022 #IrvineAwards recipient Naindeep Singh is creating transformational change by empowering Sikh youth to reimagine and improve their communities. We're thrilled to support Naindeep Singh! irvineawards.org Art by @bykellymalka

This investigative report demonstrates what Texas Muslims and other minority groups have long known: the legacy of Joseph McCarthy is alive and well in @GregAbbott_TX and @KenPaxtonTX . Governor Abbott and Attorney General have abused their power to launch witch hunts against houses of worship, voting rights groups and even a cemetery. Instead of serving all Texans, Mr. Paxton allegedly even strong-armed a governmental agency into targeting a Texas Muslim community, even after the agency concluded there was no basis for the line of attack Paxton wanted to pursue. These witch hunts and publicity stunts masquerading as investigations must come to an end, and the Commission for Lawyer Discipline in the State Bar of Texas should investigate Mr. Paxton for potential misconduct. 📄 Read more: cairtx.org/press-releases

New @nytimes reporting shows US Embassy officials in Israel are blocking info from Congress on the killings of Americans in the West Bank. I'm calling on @SenatorRisch & the Foreign Relations Committee to hold a hearing into this coverup. The American people deserve the truth.

On this day 26 years ago, the world watched, as Jamal al-Durrah tried to protect his 12-year-old son Muhammad from Israeli bullets that rained down on them in Gaza for 40 minutes. Despite pleads, Israeli soldiers intentionally shot Muhammad in the stomach- whose final moments of fear and horror were caught on camera and streamed by France TV, and injured his father. Muhammad became the defining and haunting image of the Second Intifada.

.@CAgovernor Gavin Newsom just signed CAIR-CA’s Eid bill into law, officially recognizing Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays! Co-sponsored by CAIR-CA, @CommissionAPIA, and the Muslim Impact Council, Assembly Bill (AB) 2017 permits state and school employees to observe Eid using existing holiday credit or leave time and authorizes K-12 schools and community colleges to close for Eid through negotiated agreements when there is sufficient need. Gov. Newsom's decision to sign AB 2017 into law sends the necessary and powerful message that California values and protects its Muslim community in the face of growing hate and hostility. This is a tacit endorsement of Republican Bo French’s xenophobic post attacking South Asian students at a college football game. This administration isn't even trying to hide its racism anymore. They're making it clear who they believe belongs in America and who they don’t.

The irony is that Sebastian Gorka, a supporter of Israel's genocide in Gaza, is the one who believes that the mass murder of innocent people is morally acceptable. Most people who believe in the God of Abraham, Muslims included, believe that God is just and commands justice. "O My servants, I (God) have forbidden injustice for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not commit injustice against one another." -Sahih Muslim 2577 "...We (God) decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, unless for murder or for corruption in the land, it is as if he had slain mankind entirely; and whoever saves one soul, it is as if he had saved mankind entirely." #TheQuran
White House counterterrorism czar Sebastian Gorka says that under the theology of Islam, "Allah could decree tomorrow that murder is just." "Our [Christian] God can't do that. In the theology of Islam, that is deemed to be heretical. There can be no limitations on Allah. Therefore, he can have a capricious attitude to morality."

.@HarmeetKDhillon If this report is accurate, it’s horrific. Please have your team review whether federal civil rights or hate-crime laws apply. The victim deserves justice, and the Sikh community deserves to know this is being taken seriously. Nobody should fear being attacked at a rest stop.
A Sikh trucker was followed into a Wyoming rest stop bathroom & stabbed 17 times in an unprovoked attack. Days earlier, DHS posted "Get off our roads, you don't know how to drive Mr. Singh." It deleted the post, then told NPR any link to the attack is "RECKLESS and FALSE." There has been a sharp rise in Anti-Sikh hate across the diaspora as racism and disinfo are amplified by both white nationalist and Hindu Nationalist ecosystems.

We strongly condemn Robert Kraft and other stadium owners who reportedly pressured Ed Sheeran to drop Macklemore from his U.S. tour over his support for the Palestinian people and opposition to the Gaza genocide. Privately owned sports stadiums should never threaten to ban musicians because they dare to oppose the murder of children, and publicly owned stadiums entities cannot engage in such censorship without violating the First Amendment. We call on Mr. Sheeran and the tour promoters to reverse course. They should pursue legal options or reschedule his tour rather than give in to bullying by billionaires who care about free speech as much as they care about slaughtered Palestinian children. We call on stadiums hosting Mr. Sheeran's tour that are owned by a governmental entity to publicly clarify whether they joined on this threat to cancel Mr. Sheeran's tour. Macklemore is being targeted for criticizing the genocidal mass murder of the Palestinian people and calling for the liberation of Palestine, stances applauded by prior audiences. Macklemore is taking a heroic stance and Mr. Sheeran should stand with him. The companies responsible for this attack on free speech for the benefit of a foreign government must be held accountable.
Macklemore is speaking out after being dropped from Ed Sheeran's Loop Tour, seemingly placing blame on New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, saying that the billionaire rallied other stadium owners to ban him from performing at their venues: “Ed is my friend. I've known him for 13 years.... I told Ed multiple times on the phone, our friendship can't change my responsibility to tell the truth about what happened [in Gaza]... Ed told me that Robert Kraft called him. We were scheduled to play Gillette Stadium later this month, which is owned by the Kraft Group. Ed told me that Kraft said I would not be allowed to perform in his stadium. Ed also told me that Kraft had rallied some of the other stadium owners and collectively they gave him an ultimatum: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you will not be allowed to play in our venues.... Ed was in a fucked up position. He knew it. His typical apolitical stance was being challenged in a way it never had been before. He told me that the words 'Free Palestine' and the image of the Palestinian flag were hurtful to a lot of people he spoke with. I told him that if those words were more offensive than tens of thousands of Palestinian children being killed by Israel, then there was a fundamental disconnect between where those people stood and where I stood. But he couldn't get past his public facing, 'I don't take sides'.... I hope this isn't the end of my relationship with Ed. Thirteen years of friendship doesn't disappear because of one painful disagreement. I hope we both continue listening, studying what is happening in Palestine and wrestling with what neutrality means in a moment like this. My door will always be open to continuing that conversation.... I didn't need 10 shows from Ed. I needed 2. Two chances to stand in front of 90,000 people and say the words that somehow became too dangerous to say. Free Palestine. But if those words cost me the stage, while turning the conversation back to Palestine, then it was the most successful tour I've ever been on.” variety.com/2026/music/news/…

"It's very good." That's what Benjamin Netanyahu said after the 9/11 attacks. The comment is well-documented and extensively quoted by US and Israeli media. But tell me more about the staged video of 13 random children cheering and how it shaped US policy.
You can see why this sort of thing, especially in the context of the Second Intifada, swung American politics into “blank check for Israel mode” for an extended period of time in a way that hadn’t really been true in the 80s and 90s but it was still a mistake.
