24 hours until my annual Twitter-free January. Might not even bother reinstalling it, state of this place.
My main takeaway from watching the Lord of the Rings and Indiana Jones movies for the past week is that movies nowadays don’t have enough skulls and giant cobwebs.
My favourite films of the year. After those first 10 or so the ranked aspect gets a bit iffy, as they're all pretty good for different reasons. Another year without a full 5 star movie :(
Feel free to shout at me for being wrong x

ALT A screenshot of Chris' Letterboxd rankings for films in 2024, showing the top 20: Dune Part 2, Maria, Challengers, The Substance, Priscilla, Furiosa, Queer, Anora, Conclave, Juror #2, The Iron Claw, Gladiator II, Trap, Better Man, Alien: Romulus, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Cuckoo, Grand Theft Hamlet, Twisters, and Longlegs.
We’re doing an INDIANA JONES rewatch, and just wrapped up TEMPLE OF DOOM: everything else that’s dodgy about this one aside, I’m genuinely shocked at how bad some of the compositing and matte work is, considering ILM’s work on RETURN OF THE JEDI just a year prior.

Elon really wants you to think the oligarchs are people working in the social security office instead of his Nazi billionaire ass
Crucially, nu-WALLACE AND GROMIT remembered that these should be a bit scary - somewhere out there, a small child has developed a trauma response to robots, and I think that’s wonderful x
Song itself hasn't aged well, but the bit in 'Do They Know Its Christmas' where it almost turns into the middle eight from the Doctor Who theme? Banger.
Chris Nolan doing swords and sandals…the boys have never been more back in town.
God dammit. xitter.cf/drunk_tank_p1nk/status…
The way this movie takes such delight in shooting stormtroopers, blowing up stormtroopers, stabbing stormtroopers, throwing stormtroopers twenty feet in the air like white plastic ragdolls…top-tier.
