Got summoned for jury duty and actually ended up serving for the first time. Ended up being an unfortunate situation where the person was probably guilty (and the victim was extremely sympathetic), but the cops just didn't follow up enough when gathering evidence.
"You're wrong! As if someone like that could be our son!"
Oof, hitting on some familiar themes in this episode.
Marvel tried that shit in the 80s and it was a complete failure.
This episode literally caused me to experience stomach pain, just like Kurumi herself. It's a rare occasion for me to empathize so much with a character, while genuinely wishing for their death.
Hurry it up and skip to the good part
Got around to checking out the new Rayearth. So far I'm mostly positive, though visually it ranges from pretty good to not working for me at all. I've heard it's been more faithful to the manga so far tho, so I'm glad for manga fans. I'll be waiting for best girl to show up.
Really solid episode, I like them hammering home the themes of traditions being supplanted by the brute force the Aura Battlers allow for.
Watched the first episode of FX Senshi Kurumi-chan, and I really liked it. Really sold the emotional intensity of degenerate gambling.
The Brotherhood Without Banners isn't some shallow political commentary, it's using the Robin Hood story to explore morality, and where it comes from.
The Brotherhood replaces the morality of oaths to one's liege, with their loyalty to the "realm" and to a dead king (loyalty to an abstract ideal of a king, rather than to the reality).
