Communities stood together in Portsmouth last night, men and women side by side, but it was the women who were first on the scene, blocking roads and holding the line before anyone else arrived.
These weren’t people chasing attention. They were mums, grandmas, carers, ordinary women who turned up because they believed they needed to be there. And the legend who went out on the water and helped save the day was also a woman! 👏🏻
People focus on men showing up, but as a woman and a patriot myself, I say we stand together, all of us. And be proud of that.

An Iraqi man with no fixed address has been charged with raping a 14-year-old boy in a Portsmouth alleyway after allegedly speaking to him on a bus.
The story has barely made the news. We are so desensitised to this horror. This young boy won’t be.
Sadiq Farhad Azad, 33, is also charged with stalking a woman in her 20s for a year and criminal damage.
A child allegedly raped. A woman allegedly stalked. And once again, the obvious question: what was this man’s immigration status and why was he here?
