Today, I visited Base Titanium Limited in Kwale County on a familiarization tour where I was appraised on the current status of mining operations, plans for closure, and ongoing rehabilitation efforts on previously mined lands as part of the restoration of the ecosystem. I am confident that the intensive land-rehabilitation initiatives underway will facilitate alternative beneficial land use.
This visit also provided a platform to discuss the status of movable and immovable assets after @BaseTitanium's mining period comes to an end in December. In this regard, the Ministry plans to convene the Post Mine Land Use (PMLU) Committee to engage leaders, local communities, and other stakeholders to explore the best ways to utilize the company’s assets for the community's benefit. @MiBeMa_2022 @ElijahGMwangi
