Over 3,000 winter guests just arrived in Sligo.
These barnacle geese have officially completed their 2,000km journey from Greenland and they are loud! They feed at Lissadell by day and fly to Inishmurray Island to roost at night.

☀️ November is starting on a bright note—and I’ve some welcome news if you’re hoping to get outdoors this week!
High pressure is settling in across Ireland, bringing plenty of dry weather, light winds and some lovely autumn sunshine. 🍂
Today and Monday look particularly bright once the morning mist and fog clears. Temperatures will reach 10–13°C, but keep a warm layer handy - those clear nights will bring chilly mornings, with a touch of frost in places.
Tuesday brings more sunny spells between patches of cloud. Into Wednesday and Thursday, cloud will come and go, but there’ll still be opportunities to enjoy some sunshine once any stubborn morning fog lifts.
Looking towards the weekend, the mostly dry, settled theme looks likely to hold for a while yet. I’ll take that for the first week of November! 🧣🍁

Step 2: Find a responsible adult with a power drill to hollow it out. Ancient tradition, modern equipment.
Step 3: Admire your terrifying little root vegetable. 🕯️
