Tibet. Chinese-style. Good story by @JChengWSJ. I had the same impression in Lhasa. The souvenir shops mostly run by Chinese for Chinese, didn't speak a word of Tibetan. Even the most common Buddhist symbol. wsj.com/world/in-china-battl…

The best footage I've seen from the interior of North Korea. Supplied by Kathi Zellweger, long-time aid official and author with @mikechinoy of a new memoir about her years working inside North Korea. youtube.com/watch?v=vM_tz35W…

These stories about the #USSLIncoln reminds me of #NorthKorea. The late Kim Jong Il was the biggest foodie in Asia. He flew in sushi from Tokyo, cheese from France, caviar from Iran. His soldiers were starving. An interview I did with The New Yorker. newyorker.com/news/news-desk…

Deep admiration for @BarbaraDemick and the Chinese novelist Fang Fang, winners of the @AsiaSociety @chinabksreview Baifang Schell Book Prize. A great event tonight in NY. Fang Fang, whose books are banned in the PRC, was not able to leave China to accept her award.

Is Jeff Bezos deliberately sabotaging the Washington Post? I can understand reining in critical coverage of Trump, of course he's scared, but he could have preserved his dignity and the newspaper by funding sports and foreign.
