The Bank of Namibia and the Deutsche Bundesbank (@bundesbank) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Technical Central Bank Cooperation, reaffirming a partnership that dates back to 2011. The agreement was signed by the Governor of the Bank of Namibia, Mr Ebson Uanguta, and Deutsche Bundesbank Executive Board Member, Mr Lutz Lienenkämper, during his official visit to Namibia recently. The renewed agreement will strengthen cooperation through technical assistance, specialised training, knowledge exchange and institutional capacity-building across key areas of central banking, including financial stability, macroprudential oversight, sustainability and reserves management. A notable outcome of the longstanding partnership is the admission of five Namibian students to the Deutsche Bundesbank University of Applied Sciences in Hachenburg, Germany, where they are receiving specialised academic and practical training in central banking. The renewal underscores the Bank's commitment to investing in human capital, leveraging international expertise and advancing its vision of becoming a knowledge-based central bank in support of a sound, resilient and stable financial system.
