"Your boos mean nothing, I've seen what makes you cheer" is actually an excellent and life-affirming attitude

On this day in 1980 we lost the great AC/DC singer Bon Scott.
Here’s Bon rocking with AC/DC in 1976.
The association of this song with Bon Scott is so strong that Brian Johnson refuses to sing it out of respect.

Dennis Richmond
1943-2025
The Bay Area lost a legend today.

Here’s another example: the person who leaked top secret US docs was nailed by his family’s countertop.
Replying to @trbrtc
A breakthrough in our investigation came when the team identified a Steam profile in Airman Teixeira's name that led to an Instagram profile with photos of the exact location where leaked docs were photographed — a kitchen countertop in his childhood home. nytimes.com/live/2023/04/13/…

That’s a supply and demand question. Things are worth what people are willing to pay.
I believe your question may be trying to understand if we as a society place too much value on professional sports, which is a much larger and deeper conversation.

Visiting space aliens, upon seeing humans oppress — or kill — one another over who they worship, who they sleep with, what side of an arbitrary line they’re born on, or how absorptive their skin is to sunlight, would surely race home & report no sign of intelligent life on Earth.
