Taking some film and photo of my lil' warboys for a website project. Trying my absolute hardest to copy @Garfytwit's photography style. Emulation is the greatest form of flattery, right?
I didn't understand how people felt about the Queen dying, until Figma got bought by Adobe. Now I get it.
When I first met Meredith, I would say things like 'Look at this app, it won an apple design award', and she would say 'heh, but it's not even an apple, nerd'. Things have changed greatly, and not at all.
I'm not sure if @figmadesign ever intended their amazing software to be used for something so very, very dorky - nor did @Modiphius anticipate their game being played in cloud-based design software. But hey, come read the nerdiest thing I've ever written - and that's a high bar.

#portfolioday usually means I post a bunch of UI/UX work, but I've spent the last year learning 3D modelling, so enjoy some board game dioramas I've struggled my way through instead:
I could do this all day. Point is, EB/Gamestop is full of great people earning fuck-all money and being systematically abused for their passion and need for a job. They deserve to die.
When I got my first manager gig, I was told to let go of the staff at the team I joined because they 'took advantage' of casual employment by turning down shifts. They were all great workers with great stats, but EB didn't need anyone with a brain.
I worked 'til 2 AM on my 12st birthday setting up for a sale because they wouldn't give me any budget to hire casual workers. My 16 year old brother came and helped me for free. When my area manager found out, he said 'We all do what we've gotta do'. That's EB/Gamestop.
This is so unsurprising. I loved my time at EB, but I was an 18 year old and didn't know any better. So much unpaid work, so many breaks not given, such incredible lack of accountability.
Holy shit - video game retailer GameStop just sent a memo to all of its staff telling them to keep their stores open even during state lockdowns, and to tell law enforcers that it's OK because they're "essential retail" kotaku.com/gamestop-we-can-s…
If you haven't checked out @superjumponline yet, you really should. Some amazing writing and really unique content. Even my stuff is not half bad, sometimes.

The first talk of PauseFest from @domprice will be hard to beat. An honest, insightful look at how we can shape the future of the workplace.

I love this - viewing marketing as a discovery mechanism rather than a business facilitator. UX is going down the same route - we spend so much time talking about how to 'make' customers do things. Good UX facilitates, bad UX manipulates.
