Is this a bad time to tweet that I’m still absolutely confident @THORChain will disrupt the space positively in the years to come?
Market do dis, market do dat.
$RUNE will make top 10. But unlike some Max’is, I won’t laugh at you when I’m right. Longview, and I’m with you ❤️

It seems @tayvano_ claimed that @1inch “did not keep the fees earned from Bitget exploiter swapping via 1inch”.
Can @1inch, @laurashin, @Unchained_pod confirm with on-chain receipts pls?
Or is Tay lying through her teeth again, as usual?

"But I don't want to profit from North Korean laundering money via the service that I provide, that would be a concern for me."
@laurashin now that you know you do profit from "north korea" are you willing to send 1inch money back to bitget? Will you drop them as a sponsor?

I hereby call upon @laurashin to have @Unchained_pod (and partners, shareholders etc) return advertising revenue from @1inch as it directly profited from the Bitget hack

In a debate with security expert Taylor Monahan on Unchained, THORChain co-founder Chad Barraford said he would "have a conversation" with the protocol's Treasury about returning part of the developer fund's income from the Bitget hack.

very intelligent answer
also, go back to the three rules of DAObotics from Stan Larimer
a global stoppage is 'to protect the protocol' as Avishay says here--not 3rd parties
that is exactly what one would expect from the three laws of DAObotics...
you can do a halt to protect the protocol (law #3), but you can't just arbitrarily rewrite the rules already embedded in the software (laws #1, #2); those laws trump law #3 . . .
so every particular act of censorship within a DAO would require robust governance, extremely impractical
moreover, having this as a policy would actually be the opposite of protecting the DAO's existence, since it opens massive DoS attack vectors and weakens economic security...
I think @CBarraford addressed your questions well. I know this is more of a policy and governance question, but as a security partner to @THORChain, we at Soda Labs can confirm two things: there is no centralized way to halt the system, and as of today there is no mechanism to ban addresses from swapping.
Nodes can pause the network: any single node can trigger a short global pause, and a few node votes can halt trading on a chain.
First, this is a very short time halt (1h) and can be overrun by other nodes. Second, network-wide emergency tools were built to protect the protocol, not to filter individual swaps or addresses. Otherwise it would be very easy to mount a DoS, which would impact many legitimate users.
And even if there were a way for nodes to ban specific addresses, it would rarely stop hacked funds from moving across these rails. Nodes would follow orders from their own jurisdictions, and those orders never come in real time.
Thanks to @1inch for all that DPRK munni you gave me*
fixed it for you 🤝

Crypto loves “trust me.”
1inch Aqua went with eight independent audits instead. 👀
Thanks to @1inch for backing Unchained and building for the long haul.

You mentioned that THORChain does money laundering during this stream like 10+ times @laurashin
When you push narratives like that, can you at least try to keep definitions right, pls
"Money laundering is the process of illegally concealing the origin of money"
@THORChain doesn't conceal or obfuscate anything. In fact, the opposite. All transactions can be tracked and traced onchain
THORChain cofounder Chad Barraford reacts to a Chinese crime syndicate recommending THORChain to ZachXBT for money laundering
Laura: "Today, ZachXBT released an investigation in which he went undercover and exposed a Chinese crime syndicate that laundered the $1.5 billion in Bybit funds. And in his conversation with this guy, Jimmy, at some point, Jimmy suggests to Zach that Zach can also get into the money laundering business, and he messages Zach and he says, quote, 'Think you can do it too. All you need is Thor cross chain.'"
"So how do you feel about that? That this Chinese crime syndicate is recommending that he use THORChain to get into the business of money laundering."
Chad: "So THORChain is not a money laundering service, right? There's no obfuscation of information whatsoever. When you trade from Ethereum to Bitcoin, it is clear text to everybody in real time of where that money is going from and where it's going to."
"THORChain doesn't do mixing of any kind. That makes no sense. You can make the same argument about, like, well, you should become a Bitcoin miner because you could make the argument in any decentralized protocol. What's the difference?"
Taylor: "I mean, I'll also say the reason that we met Jimmy was because of the THORChain Discord. Literally, the money launderers are in the THORChain Discord."
Chad: "Yeah. And I'm sure the people on, like, Silk Road were in the IRCs or the Bitcoin forum, right? Like, that's not indicative of anything other than just a diverse community around it."
Surprised this excerpt got posted, as it’s Chad speaking w.o interruption that one rare moment he got to do that
If it did anything, the “interview” displayed 2 truths in full clear view👇
1. How at ease THORChain is about itself
2. How neurotic & insular its detesters are
THORChain cofounder Chad Barraford on why it can't censor stolen funds: the blocking code doesn't exist, and even if it did, consensus is too slow without centralizing
"The first thing is that the protocol has no ability to censor individual transactions or wallets. Thus, the code doesn't even really exist to begin with."
"If you did create the code to do the thing that you're kind of advocating for in this moment, it wouldn't be very effectual because it takes, on average, about 3 days, sometimes up to 2 weeks to get a 2/3 majority of consensus from the protocol about, you know, taking this action or that action or whatever."
"It wouldn't be effective to be able to block individual transactions. It wouldn't be fast enough to respond. In order to be fast enough to respond, you'd have to redesign Thorchain to be more centralized."
"In theory you could do that if the nodes, you know, collectively agree with that action. But that is not something that this protocol is generally interested in doing. Neither is Bitcoin, neither is Ethereum. You know, most of these protocols are not interested in changing their design to become more centralized."

Based THORChain.
True decentralization is binary.
I love Near Intents and will continue to use their incredible product but you can’t in good faith call them permissionless.
A THORChain network halt is an emergency security mechanism designed to protect the protocol.
A halt is not a selective freeze of specific funds or an individual swap.
During the May 2026 exploit that resulted in $10.7M stolen from the liquidity pools, the attackers addresses were never blacklisted and therefore never prevented from swapping on THORChain.
THORChain is permissionless and doesn't censor by design. It's a neutral public good/tool as described by @mperklin in the post below.
tl;dw: @CBarraford won 🏆
Honorable mention notes:
1. @laurashin is a paid-for, in-the-pocket hack journalist
2. @tayvano_’s biggest evidence for a nonreal argument was [redacted]
@THORChain is decentralized ⚡️
bullish on thorchain:native
I host THORChain core dev @cbarraford and @tayvano_ on the Bitget hack: what a Mimir vote can and can't do, the per-chain signing halt three nodes could trigger, and who collects the fees when DPRK swaps to BTC.

Our co-founder @CBarraford will be live with @laurashin today at 3:20PM ET.
THORChain nodes paused their own network for five weeks after a $10.7M exploit in May. They declined Bitget's request to halt flows from a $387.5M hack. @cbarraford and @tayvano_ debate whether that's principle or a fee decision, live with @laurashin .

Well, I certainly don’t hate that number.
I know it’s variable, but still, what a nice option this is, one that’s available to all persons: this being a bond provider to a @THORChain node. Isn’t it just so wholesome and inclusive that anyone can be a bond provider, that you just need an amount of $RUNE and to arrange the bonding process with a preferred node operator who’s got vacancy for you.
And wow, does that process of finding your preferred node to bond with, boy how many gateless methods and transparent platforms there are by which one can do that. It’s like.. all of the information about bonding access points and node operation, it’s all so visible, truly, how visibly they make themselves available, to not just me but to everyone and anyone always.. like, it’s like nothing is hidden anywhere at all about it, like I have the same access as everybody else. Just wow. How incredible. So grateful. Wildest part is these access points aren’t hard to find at all. It’s like all anyone has to do to see them and engage with them is to not have their eyes shut in some sort of babyish defiance. Because boy there are so many options to go about this, so many preferences available for the gateless user to choose from to bond their RUNE stack; boy, I feel like there are so many ways to see them that, to miss them all, you would have to be trying not to see them. You’d have to be keeping your eyes shut.
But I’m so happy for all those that have their eyes open, and who’ve realized just how easy it to become a bond provider, and to have successfully pursued it, because not only are they helping to improving the stability of the chain by doing so, they are receiving those rewards and benefits from their participation, those rewards and benefits that everyone alike in world has access to and no one is cut off from. How nice it is that THORChain opens the doors of bonding and network participation to all, without any exclusivity, how fun all the many visible options we can enter this participation, just as anyone else can.
RUNE working for the protocol. RUNE working for me. THORChain is working, and anyone can participate in its success, of which much more is coming. Really, all you have to do to see it is open your fucking eyes.

Yes, but:
1) Anyone who ever feels wronged by Near intents could now sue them. There is clear precedence that they have both the ability and the desire to decide what’s a good transaction and what’s a bad one. This will happen.
2) Any judge, law enforcement official, or prosecutor who wants to go after Near Intents (or its governors and participants) for facilitating illicit use can do so and accuse them of conspiracy or aiding and abetting. This will happen. (They went after Roman for a system he didn’t even control)
3) Any government that imposes sanctions will now expect near intents to enforce them. This will happen.
4) Any hacker (enabled by a frontier model) can now target Near Intents as it has demonstrated centralized controls.
You could argue all of this is tolerable or even “worth it”. That’s a reasonable argument. But why bother with the decentralization theater? Just build a fully permissioned system and do KYC.
No such thing as a system that’s only trustless when things go well.
In the last 48 hours, @near_intents:
> Detected and blocked stolen funds from an exchange hack
> Got exploited, patched within hours. $3.8M lost, all being refunded
CEX hacks (~$5B) and bridge exploits (~$3.7B) have been the two worst loss vectors in crypto.
Refreshing to see a team take ownership of crypto's biggest weakness.

No wonder they tried scapegoating THORChain so hard. The @bitget hack was so much more their own fault than we even knew, than they had surely let on.
Way to go, bitget -- gross negligence, ftw 🙌
Anyone notice anything different about @laurashin's posts today? Yesterday she'd have somehow managed to blame THORChain for these events in some asinine way. It's still early of course, but wouldn't ya know it, TC seems to have disappeared entirely from her topics of interest today.
Hm, I wonder why 🤔💭
- Perhaps she's realized who she's dealing with & wasn't ready for the heat & overwhelming, intellectually-sound support for THORChain
- Perhaps the appeal of talking shit lost its luster when a THORChain co-founder offers to come on her public chat and check her ass
- Perhaps her lawyer confirmed that she actually was at fault for libel and prudently recommended she tuck her tail and run from the false bullshit she was spewing the last 60 or so hours
Whatever the reason, good. Stay gone. Next time you come at THORChain know how it fucking works, you hack ass paid for mouthpiece loser.
& a final note to those companies who are paying for partnerships with this woman: ~300k followers and she rarely get more than 10 likes on a post.. & her famous person plug is Hunter Biden... I ask, what engagement impact is your company looking for in this partnership, exactly? Because if it's anything more than zero, then whatever you're paying her, unless its like $10, you clearly aren't getting your money's worth. Defund this bitch.
