Hace 50 años, el 15 de octubre de 1976, el sello Fania Records lanzó ‘Recordando el Ayer’, un álbum que reunía los talentos de Celia Cruz, Johnny Pacheco, Justo Betancourt y Papo Lucca. Grabado en Bell Sound Studios de Nueva York, el proyecto recuperó diez canciones del repertorio tradicional cubano, principalmente grandes clásicos popularizados por la Sonora Matancera, ahora con nuevos arreglos a cargo de Papo Lucca, Louie Ramírez, Sonny Bravo y Jorge Millet, bajo la dirección musical de Johnny Pacheco.
