In my 25+ years advocating for better treatment of farm animals, I’ve never seen so many thought leaders and elected officials from both right and left unite to defeat an anti-animal bill. Some things are bigger than political tribalism, and basic decency toward animals is one of them. Here's a small sample of those speaking out against including SOB in the farm bill. 🧵
You’re an inspiration @RepMcGovern. Keep fighting the good fight. We’re grateful for you!
Thousands of family farms support basic humane standards for farm animals, just as two-thirds of all Americans do. But @HouseAgGOP silenced their voices at today’s hearing. Not on my watch.
That’s why, when Republicans invited Big Ag lobbyists to argue for putting animals back in confinement crates, I made sure farmers who support #prop12 had a seat at the table. Their livelihoods are at stake – and their voices deserve to be heard.

He is correct... and one of the most egregious examples of crony capitalism is the corrupt alliance between the Chinese-owned Smithfield Foods and senators like @SenJoniErnst , who are trying to push through a backhanded deal to FORCE gestation-crated pork back onto states which have already voted to ban it.
Pay attention to the "Farm Bill" they're trying to sneak in through Brooke Rollins - it's a complete f-you to Republican values of states' rights of self determination, it hurts small farmers, and it is terrible for American health.

Please @GovRonDeSantis: Do NOT sign the @KristiNoem Bill (SB 1084) which, buried within it, will allow people to shoot dogs. Unlike Kristi Noem, you're a #dog lover not a dog killer. 🙏🏼
Friends: Please RT far & wide to help be a voice for #dogs and all #animals! @CaseyDeSantis

It was wonderful being on with @cenkuygur talking about horrific treatment of farm animals and our successful campaigns to make their lives better. (@TheYoungTurks)

Great piece by @lynnesforage (@CivilEats) showing how successful @HumaneSociety legislative and corporate campaigns is beginning to change the pork industry.
