25th Volta Cicloturista Internacional a Menorca 🚴🏻♀️

📍 Cap de Barbaria Lighthouse, Formentera
Located at the southern tip of Formentera, Cap de Barbaria Lighthouse is one of the best-known spots on the island. The lighthouse was designed in 1924 but not built until 1971, and it stands 78 metres above sea level.
Nearby you can also visit the Torre des Garroveret, built around 1760, and explore the surroundings of Cap de Barbaria, an area inhabited since prehistoric times. 🗓️

#Ibiza can also be discovered by bike. The island has more than 20 well-signposted mountain bike routes that cross some of its most surprising landscapes: forest trails, stretches along the sea, small coves and corners of the most authentic interior. 🚲
Looking for a challenge? Take on the Vall de Morna route in Santa Eulària des Riu, or ride the northwest coast from Sant Antoni de Portmany. If you prefer something more relaxed, the Camí Vell de Sant Rafel is a great option. 📍

Dry-stone walls, almond trees, fig trees, carob trees. The farming landscape of our islands is more than a photo backdrop: it is the result of centuries of work on the land. 🤲🏻💚
The Sustainable Tourism Tax funded a grant programme for farmers to restore dry-stone terrace walls and replant traditional dryland trees, which are increasingly threatened by drought and pests. Two lines of action to halt degradation and keep alive a landscape that defines the islands as much as the sea does. 🌊

Few products represent #Mallorca as much as sobrassada. Made with pork, pork fat, paprika, salt and pepper, this cured sausage stands out for its distinctive red colour and intense flavour. 🤤
Recognised with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status since 1996, it is part of everyday cooking on the island. 🍽️
At 365 metres high, Monte Toro is the highest point on #Menorca and one of the best places to take in the island from above.
At its summit stands the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Monte Toro, of medieval origin and one of the places with the deepest religious tradition in Menorca. Next to the sanctuary you can also see the old El Toro watchtower, part of the historic coastal lookout network. 👏🏻

📍 In the north of #Formentera lies one of the best-preserved dune systems in the #IllesBalears. Ses Illetes and s'Espalmador are part of Ses Salines Natural Park and stand out for their ecological value and the richness of their landscape.
💡 Their dunes, together with the vegetation and the Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows, help protect this area and keep its waters crystal clear.

Some Menorcan landscapes are well worth preserving. 🌿🐦
In Llimpa – Santa Madrona, within s'Albufera des Grau Natural Park, the last remaining chalets in this protected area were demolished and the land was restored with native vegetation and traditional landscape features.
A project supported by the Sustainable Tourism Tax to keep caring for the Menorca we come to discover, enjoy and remember. 💚

Es Pujols began as a small fishing village and today is one of the liveliest spots on #Formentera 💙
Its white-sand beach and calm waters, a seafront promenade lined with restaurants and its lively atmosphere at dusk make it an almost obligatory stop on the island. Now, thanks to the Sustainable Tourism Tax, strolling its streets feels different: new paving, LED street lights, trees and street furniture, with power and phone cables buried underground so nothing distracts from the views. It has also been renewed below the surface, with more efficient water networks. 💡

🧀 Maó-Menorca Cheese
Made following a tradition rooted in the Menorcan countryside, it has held Protected Designation of Origin status since 1985. Its characteristic shape, aroma and unmistakable flavour have made it one of the great culinary treasures of #Menorca. 💚
Some Menorcan farms let you see how it is made up close, visit the traditional llocs (farmsteads) and enjoy tastings and food experiences. 👏🏻
