I’m in a really tough spot right now I live in a community where the HOA is responsible for our water and could use some advice or assistance. I just got a notice from the City yesterday evening about serious problems with the water system in my area, and it’s gotten pretty bad. There have been leaks that caused a lot of damage, and even a sinkhole has formed. The city did some temporary fixes, but now the whole water system needs to be replaced because it’s not safe anymore. If the repairs aren't done by September 10, 2024, the city will shut off the water to my home and all the other homes here. Without water, the fire safety systems won't work, and I’ll have to move out until everything is fixed and safe again. Unfortunately, the HOA management informed the city they don't have the financial means to make these repairs. I’ve never been in a situation like this before, and honestly, I have no idea what to do. I’ve already called my mortgage company to see if I could pause my payments so I could rent somewhere else for a while, but they said no. I’m having panic attacks thinking about what’s next. My savings are very slim and I don’t have any family I can turn to, and I’m really worried about what to do with my dogs, too as I'm not going to put them in a shelter or abandon them.
