SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios.
The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios.
Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even โday afterโ scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said.
Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior.

As an ophthalmologist working in Karamoja, I have seen how a simple cataract surgery can restore not only sight, but also independence, dignity, and opportunity.
Yet many people remain unnecessarily blind because they are unaware that treatment is available.
This video shares my vision for a youth-led approach to increasing awareness and access to cataract services in underserved communities.
Together, we can ensure that avoidable blindness nolonger limits peopleโs ability to learn, work, and participate fully in society.

Here is your next plan now that the national cleaning day is done. This showroom represents 9 months of hard work by Mama Zaabu and her team.
The goal was to roll out a space that would be at the same level as the showrooms we saw in Paris, Dubai and Shanghai.
Ugandan products deserve nothing less!
When they say BUBU it also means rolling out space that we can all be proud off!

I would like to thank, salute & give flowers to all bodyguards & escorts in this country. Youโre doing a commendable job.
Youโve been responsible for the security of your principles & their families. Youโve done a commendable job. This has led to government officials & other dignitaries committed to their work without having to worry about their security.
I know few of you face some job hazards such carrying your principleโs stuff such as lunches, teas, laptops & handbags, pushing shopping trolleys, some look after animals in the farm, washing cars, checking on children performance at school, checking on sick relatives in hospitals, carrying bibles & prayer books to church etc.
Youโve remained resilient, committed, disciplined & focused on your duty. Your contribution to the country is appreciated by us who understand your roles & we pray for you. May God bless you so much. Asante sana.

At this rate, you would think Ugandaโs health system has โnever done anything positive.โ
Social media is increasingly creating the impression that our hospitals are places where lives are lost rather than saved. That narrative is not entirely fair.
Yes, our health system has gaps. Yes, there are cases of negligence, misdiagnosis, delays and other challenges that must be addressed. But letโs not pretend that the entire system is failing or that our health workers are doing nothing right.
Take the Uganda Cancer Institute, for example. It has been among the facilities being heavily criticized online. But do we ever stop to ask how many lives that institution has saved? How many patients have received cancer treatment, care and hope because of the services offered there? The Institute has also received recognition as a leading public health facility in East Africa.
And letโs remember something important: people die everywhere in the world. Medical errors and misdiagnoses are not unique to Uganda. They happen even in countries with some of the most advanced healthcare systems in the world. There have been cases in the United States where patients have even undergone surgery intended for the wrong patient.
Doctors are not angels. Doctors are not God. They are human beings.
Just as engineers can make mistakes, drivers can make mistakes, and farmers can make mistakes, doctors can also make mistakes. The difference is that doctors deal directly with human lives, so the consequences of a mistake can be devastating even fatal.
That does not mean mistakes should be excused. Where there is negligence or malpractice, there should be accountability. But let accountability not become a death sentence for every doctor who makes a mistake.
Let us support our doctors. Let us trust them. Let us hold them accountable fairly. Above all, let us pray for them.
And please, let us stop abusing health workers. Behind that white coat is a human being who is also doing their best under difficult circumstances.
Most importantly, let us push for better funding of Ugandaโs health sector. Give our health facilities the resources, equipment, medicines, staffing and infrastructure they need. With proper investment, we can move from good to better, and from better to excellent.
We have challenges. We must acknowledge them and fix them.
But we are not as hopeless as social media sometimes makes us look.
Letโs criticize where necessary, appreciate where deserved, demand accountability where there is wrongdoing and continue building a health system we can all be proud of.
Well done team, thanks for serving humanity with love ๐ค๐

โHe who understands working capital understands growth.โ
That sounds almost biblical.
Perhaps I should have written: โIf your business is doing so well, why are you still broke?โ
Most of the time, the answer is working capital.
Let me give you a few examples.
โI know the owner.โ
Mama Zaabu used to run a high-end restaurant/bar before starting @modernliving256.
The place was always busy.
โShould we open another location?โ
โHow about a pop-up in Kisementi?โ
Yet the owners were broke.
Why?
Clients would come in en masse, โspend a lot of money,โ sweet-talk the owner andโฆ not pay their bill.
Classic case of selling to your friends.
You have a pile of IOUs from clients. You are broke.
โI can sell this.โ
Another classic working-capital trap.
You go to the Canton Fair and discover all sorts of exciting products. Brand-new eco-friendly nail polish in 50 different colours.
You happily call your accountant in Kampala:
โWire the money.โ
At this point, youโve spent a few million shillings going to Canton, so obviously you believe you can sell.
Geez, you even have an accountant.
And maybe you can sell.
The problem is that your system for selling eventually hits a ceiling.
More products arrive than your sales engine can move.
Your inventory balloons. You are broke.
โWe need to produce more and faster.โ
This one is typical of growing businesses.
Your product is in high demand. Congratulationsโyou are already doing better than the vast majority of entrepreneurs.
Hooray!
Yet you are still broke, and your backlog keeps growing.
Your obsession becomes adding more people and increasing production.
You buy machines. You meet bankers and investors, who inevitably ask:
โIf youโre growing so fast, why are you still broke?โ
You start writing posts on X about how the ecosystem canโt support entrepreneurs.
But there are really only two fundamental ways to deal with a persistent backlog:
Increase capacity or increase prices.
The longer you wait, the more your work-in-progress balloons.
And you eventually need to ask a harder question:
Are you actually making money on all those orders?
โWell, client so-and-so made me drive across town to fix his bed for UGX 50k, and it burned two hours of my carpenterโs time.โ
There it is.
You are charging too little per unit of time.
Until you fix that, your work-in-progress keeps ballooning alongside your list of annoyed customers.
You are broke.
Whether your business is actually a money-printing machine often shows up in your working capital long before it shows up in your revenue numbers.
Revenue can make you look successful.
Working capital tells you whether the machine actually works.
Until you understand it, and fix it, you can keep growing and still remain broke.
That's it for today...
