We have an access and accountability problem in English football. The manager has to answer for everything. Executives nothing. Appeal lodged. Process ongoing. But they hide. If modern managers are paid so much it is also because they shoulder the cowardice of their bosses
The ideal would have been to ask questions to a club chief but Maresca took every question about the PL verdict and there was no attempt to shut down questions - just kept repeating he trusts the club and the appeal. Analysis after the news conference

Maresca is asked if he would have taken the job had the guilty judgement came earlier this year: "100%. I know the organisation from years ago, I know how serious they are, I know they do the right things. I would like to speak about this when we are going to win the appeal."

I want every single @ManCity fan to know I am here; more than ever. I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters. Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all 🩵

▪️ ‘Sham contracts’ ▪️ Spending limit breaches ▪️ ‘Disguised funding’ While Manchester City maintains its innocence and says the process is ongoing, the initial written reasons for the independent regulatory commission’s decision to find them guilty of almost all charges are damning. @JamesHorncastle breaks them down: nyti.ms/4xX6WRE
