#Path_resident_Learing_pearl 🧠 Follicular Cervicitis 🔍 Key Histologic Clues •Prominent lymphoid follicles with reactive germinal centers in the cervical stroma •Dense chronic inflammatory infiltrate composed predominantly of lymphocytes and plasma cells •Usually located beneath intact squamous or endocervical epithelium ⚠️ Diagnostic Pitfall •Can raise concern for a lymphoproliferative disorder when lymphoid aggregates are prominent •Small biopsies may overemphasize the lymphoid component and obscure the reactive nature of the process 🔬 Differential Diagnosis •Reactive chronic cervicitis •Primary or secondary cervical lymphoma •Chronic inflammatory conditions with lymphoid hyperplasia 💡 Learning Pearl •Follicular cervicitis is a benign reactive process characterized by lymphoid follicles with germinal centers and is classically associated with chronic genital infection, particularly Chlamydia trachomatis infection. •Identification of well-formed reactive germinal centers and a polymorphous inflammatory population supports a benign diagnosis. #Pathology #PathTwitter #GynPath #TeachingPearl #PathTwitterAward 🧠🔬

5 Things Every Pathology Resident Should Know About Invasive Breast Carcinoma NST 3. E-cadherin isn’t enough E-cadherin is one of the most useful immunostains when distinguishing invasive breast carcinoma NST from invasive lobular carcinoma—but it should never be interpreted in isolation. A panel is often more informative: - NST: membranous E-cadherin, β-catenin, and p120 (Case A 👇) - Lobular carcinoma: loss of E-cadherin and β-catenin, cytoplasmic p120 (Case B 👇) Be aware of aberrant staining patterns. As always, morphology comes first—immunohistochemistry should support, not replace, the diagnosis. #PathX #PathTwitter #breastpath
