If you don't have a good relationship with your big kids, it's 100% your fault. But you can probably fix it.
I recommend following this account because he explains how our behavior teaches kids stuff we don't actually want to teach them. Very useful insight about how to be a strong parent who doesn't get walked all over yet one who creates strong children who don't get walked all over and who don't walk all over anyone.
This stuff is critical. If you raise a child well into adulthood they are best equipped to manage future relationships which tend to make or break them.

If you’ve ever eaten a handful of cranberries or have tasted straight cranberry juice then you already understand that, without extra water and sugar, that shit is nearly undrinkable. Tart cherry juice is good and tasty, but cranberry juice is a chore.
Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail is 27% juice. It says so on the back in small print because FDA makes them put it there. The rest is water and sugar, plus vegetable concentrate for color because 27% cranberry isn't red enough on its own. The front says no artificial flavors, which is true, and 100% Vitamin C, which is added.
Cranberry juice at 100% is close to undrinkable, it's that tart, so everybody dilutes it. Cocktail is the legal way of saying juice drink without saying juice drink. Ocean Spray is a farmer owned co-op and they aren't hiding any of this, the percentage is on every bottle. It's still three quarters sugar water with a fruit on the label.
