WHAT AN HONOUR! To be long-listed for the most prestigious sports book awards is something I never dreamed of when writing the book. A million thanks to the team at @PitchPublishing , @talkSPORT and @TheAdrianDurham for giving me a platform to discuss it further, and those at @BookiePrize who saw fit to include me along side such a fine collection of books.

A whopping 588 turned up for a ding-dong top of the table showdown at Calthorpe Park today. Both teams gave it everything but in the end, @FCFleetTown had too much for @KnaphillFC scoring 3 times in the final 15 for a 4-1 win. Great advert for the @ComCoFL
My annual visit to College Meadow came with it the first chill of the year. Leaves on the pitch, breath visible in the cramped stand and the smell of a distant bonfire….football nostalgia kicks in at this time of year. @BecclesFC won a thriller 4-3 against the students from UEA
After a gap of 28 years, a long overdue visit to Hanbury Park home of @HHTFC. The old girl is looking spick and span with a new pitchside bar (the Hanbury), merch shop and tea bar. The team weren’t too shabby either dismantling a struggling Midhurst 4-0. Noisy fans throughout!
Forgotten Harwich. Similar to other outpost port towns like Boston or Kings Lynn, Harwich is neglected but not without its charms. Substantial 17th c. houses, Flemish touches and traditional dockers boozers. If this was in Cornwall, tourists would be flocking.
Something special is brewing down at level 11 in the pyramid. @norton_athletic’s development of their Highfield ground is nothing short of remarkable: Plush new clubhouse ✅ Electronic scoreboard ✅ grandstand ✅ locally brewed ales on barrel ✅ BBQ ✅ Programme and merch ✅
Floodlights and Eastern Counties football 🔜 Its a real community effort here on the farm. Speaking to the local (Reedham) ferryman before today’s game v @Thetfordrovers, everyone gets involved. My fourth visit here and it’s just gets better - get yourself down!

A first visit to @Basingstoke_FC’s impressive Winklebury Complex today following a revisit to @Thatcham_TownFC’s Waterside Park. Two feisty games ended with two home wins.

I've written a lot a grounds built in old quarries: Imotski, Rijeka, Millhead etc. But in 1921, for 2 days only, @FCBarcelona twice played @ACSparta_CZ at the health and safety nightmare that was Estadi Català on Montjuic. It is now the Foixarda rugby stadium @TheAdrianDurham
Worst ground in the EFL? My 2nd tour through the 92 and it’s back to Colchester United’s Jobserve Stadium. Almost 20 yrs on from its opening, it’s looking a bit shabby - bland, grey with little architectural flair, it’s between this and York imo. What do you think?
