1/2 About P256 mysterious pruning of seed candidates
We used to random walk when searching for elliptic curves with certain properties with @SimonMasson2 .

Possible explanation for the "holes" with how we conduct the search on our side.

Not sure who sent so many autists on that post but thank you, it's a great opportunity to introduce them to old french memes🇫🇷
Real life, baby
So the story was exactly as people imagined: it was Elon's idea to throttle Starshield, which he then shared with Trump.
Due to the massive backlash and fear of losing business in Europe, the decision was quickly reversed. However, since they didn't want to help Zelenskyy in any way, credit for the reversal was given to former Ukrainian Defence Minister Fedorov, who had previously been dismissed by the Ukrainian president.
The decisions of these two small, greedy men may have cost many Ukrainian soldiers and civilians their lives. An absolute disgrace.
On the other hand seeing how crypto twixtter reacted to the Atom launch it's great that Elon launched a flying car to create a diversion - this was the real genius in the timing of the announcement

Announcing LayerTree: a new tree-based scaling solution for Bitcoin that permits O(1), independent of the number of users in the system: xitter.cf/lightning/status/21108…
A single UTXO can hold the balance of millions of users as an off-chain Merkle-sum tree.

The nicest (imho) feature of Ledger Atom is having a SE driving the whole screen along with a proof for the user that the SE is active. This was only done for TEEs before (rip Archos) and opens the door to a lot of secure apps beyond just crypto.
How a company behaves when it is attacked says more about it than any product launch. Here is where we stand on the hardware implant attack: what happened, how we responded, and what we are changing.

An update from @DonjonLedger regarding Germany 🔽
Following reports from one person in Germany, our team inspected devices from retail and distributor stock across the country, including units from the stores named. None showed any sign of tampering. No loss of funds related to implants has been reported anywhere in Europe.
We have not yet been able to examine the devices shown online. We invite their owner to send them to our security team so we can analyze them and share our findings.
ZK clear signing is now an initiative on @thedaofund Security Fund.
Hardware wallets can only display what a descriptor registry tells them. Privacy protocols (Tornado, Railgun, Privacy Pools) compute, they don’t just transfer, so the screen stays blind.
Incident Update - Oct 13th, 2026
Ledger is asking resellers and distributors in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong to suspend sales of Ledger devices while the investigation is ongoing. This includes taking products off the shelves.
Specifically the countries are: Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
To be clear, as the investigation continues, the only confirmed incidents remain contained to Southeast Asia. We have not verified a drain linked to a device bought elsewhere.
The investigation is ongoing to determine who tampered with these devices and where in the distribution chain it happened. The Ledger Donjon will analyze the devices it receives, and Ledger Customer Support will provide guidance to users who reach out through our official channel: support.ledger.com.
We understand this is concerning, and will continue to provide updates from the Ledger Donjon as the investigation progresses. Stay vigilant.
We have no indication that Ledger's infrastructure, systems or services or direct sales channel have been compromised.
