STEEL BALL RUN - OPENING 1 / โSPINโ
- SONG BY KROI
โ Yeah? โ
A counter, confusion written in the creases of her face- though his actions mirrored. A quick kick of the leg, demounting her steed; light bounce against the grass radiating up her frame. A pang of ache, though swallowed and ignored as soon as it presented itself.
Hand kept against saddle, she'd use every spare second to take in every detail of the area. As if committing to memory, worried that one wrong blink and it'd disappear.
โ Seems counter-intuitive, don't it? Stopping? โ
Quick glance shot behind her, noting the way the hidden trail seemed to go on for miles in both directions. A soft snort of laughter, shaking her head in disbelief. Something hidden in such plain sight, so obvious once discovered.
โ Can't say 'm surprised. โ
Competition brought the worst out in people, it seemed. Yet, it was where this pair thrived- where they found their best, where they found their affection for one another. Such an odd concept, when considered in detail.
Her thoughts are shoved back in her mind upon the sight.
Scenery appreciated as she spurs her horse to follow closely, mindful to keep guard raised ; the cover of morning and foliage only doing so much to mask their travel. Both had learned the hard way what happened the second guards were fully lowered - when safety was assumed.
An arm outstretched, brushing against the leaves, admiring the way sunlight streamed through every gap, dotting the land in little circles of brilliant glow.
The surroundings quiet, save for the occasional rustling in the breeze, or the distance cries of birds.
In repetition of his own actions, legs would find themselves over the side of her horse- a swift motion, hoisting form unto saddle. A whinny from her equine companion, earning him a gentle pat against mane.
A quick jiggle to the sides of saddle.
No need for an all-out run, yet, early enough to allow for another hour or so of leisurely travel. So long as it * was travel. Progress necessary. There were benefits to waking up at dawn, before many racers had even opened their eyes.
"Least I can do."
She'd hum contentedly, tone uncharacteristically soft as quick work was made of her cookware. Cleaned, doused, and repackaged with practiced swiftness.
Every second mattered, every action optimized in efficiency.
To support him in his journey, to aide in the saving of a life she had never herself encountered- and the changing of her own.
Packing completed, she'd dust off knees; rising to attach packs to the side of her steed's saddle. Prepped and ready to do. A turn to face her partner.
