This reminded me I’m a member of the 500 Wins - 500 HR club in wiffle ball. Any other members on X?
🚨 Jude and Jobe Bellingham's father, Mark Bellingham, is set to represent England's over-50s team against Ireland this Sunday. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Nicknamed the "Pelé of non-league football", Mark scored more than 700 goals during his prolific career in amateur football. At the age of 50, he is becoming the third member of his family to represent England after his sons Jude and Jobe. 😂

2 of the best competitors in recent memory
The best Jake Peavy story you will ever hear. He had no sympathy for rookie Kyle Schwarber😂

TeamAnalytics taking a victory lap for a team that just won with 21 of 51 hits going the other way (41%), aggressive baserunning, a SP throwing 103, and a lockdown pen. Sounds like an old school scout’s dream… Maybe we just accept the fact you need all of it to win.

XBH% has been pretty steady outside of the juiced ball ‘19 season… Batting average is down because the industry is chasing slug on every pitch… Instead of making OF stand in a box, teach kids how to hit.
MLB's testing of new outfield positional rules in Arizona seems to be working exactly as intended. Offense is WAY up. Is that a good thing? baseballamerica.com/stories/…

SFIA is an online poll of about 18,000 people right? Kids are playing baseball… Who actually answered the poll if the big gainers are golf, tennis, wrestling and lacrosse?
Baseball….we have a problem

This right handed heavy pull alignment with two outs & runners on 1B & 2B makes it tough to get the force at 2B. It was especially true on this GB into the 5.5 hole with Caminero having to make a 360 spin to throw. Credit Yelich for going hard & sliding late to beat the force. It lead to 8 two out runs. If you play heavy pull with a RHH hitting, you need to have a backside catcher’s pick in the playbook where the first baseman breaks on the pitch. That way a jab step or two by the 1st baseman when not picking may force the runner at 1st to retreat. At worst it may control his primary lead some. Tough to beat teams that run the bases aggressively & intelligently.

MLS had a player finish higher in Ballon d’Or than the Premier League and Serie A… MLS might be a top 3 league in the world. 😅

The @UnitedStandMUFC watch along is the only way to watch this season. Should only be about 25 minutes from a “pure football” decision.

Pettiness aside, Cam cooked in the first half of this post. Both teams are athletic, play the game… the situational game. One manager has that old school gut feel and combines it with “10,000” hours of managing experience. The other plays it more by the book and gets results.
DAMN! Who knew little old me and my opinion would have all y’all this STIRRED UP?! Some of y’all heard the word ANALYTICS and completely MISSED MY WHOLE DAMN POINT! I’m talking about REAL BALLPLAYERS! DOGS! GRINDERS! Dudes who will fight through 12-pitch at-bats, move runners, lay down a bunt, run the bases, make plays, and do the dirty work EVERY SINGLE NIGHT! Guys who COMPETE THEIR ASSES OFF! I spent a few years around Pat Murphy. Sat in his office, had plenty of personal conversations, and heard firsthand what that man preached! “PLAY LIKE A NEANDERTHAL!” Now let me ask y’all something… YOU THINK NEANDERTHALS KNEW WHAT ANALYTICS WERE?! OR WERE THEY JUST OUT THERE TRYING TO COMPETE, SURVIVE, AND WIN NO MATTER WHAT?! THAT’S MY WHOLE DAMN POINT! I never said the Brewers and Rays don’t use analytics. I’m saying I see two organizations that value OLD-SCHOOL BALLPLAYERS! Complete players who know how to WIN, even when it ain’t pretty! Y’all call it analytics. I call it GETTING BACK TO THE GAME I GREW UP LOVING! BASEBALL! SIMPLE AS THAT! And yeah, let me be a LITTLE PETTY before I go! Respectfully, I’m not letting people who have NEVER stepped between those lines convince me otherwise just because you went to a really FANCY SCHMANCY COLLEGE 🤣and know how to read a spreadsheet! I respect education. I respect analytics. But being book smart doesn’t automatically mean you understand what it takes to COMPETE AND WIN between those lines! I played 15 YEARS in the BIG LEAGUES! I’ve been around some of the greatest baseball minds in the world. That doesn’t mean I know everything, but I’ve earned the right to have my own perspective on this game! LOVE THE DEBATE! RESPECT EVERYBODY’S OPINION! BUT I’M STANDING TEN TOES DOWN ON MINE!

It’s bizarre to me how so many want to ignore TB having one of the biggest and brightest scouting groups in the game. That group deserves a ton of credit that the narrative wants to push towards R&D… Should be a great series!👇🎯👏👏

Somewhat interesting. No team with a payroll lower than 13th has won the WS since 2010. *Astros were 19th in 2017

🚨🗣 - Steven Gerrard on Man Utd's problem: "The back four is NOT good enough. "The midfield, I don't think they've found the right personnel. "Santos was NOT the right signing for £50m. "They're short in terms of work ethic." [@WeAreTheOverlap]

Quick pitch tip… tip. If it happens after the hands break it’s too late unless it’s an obvious thing that big league hitters will naturally react to like a change in slot or whatever. Once the hands break, it’s about Picking up release point.

Here's Walls' full breakdown of his defensive prowess. This guy's baseball IQ>>>>
Taylor Walls just went ~3 minutes on his defensive prowess — and reading balls off the bat like basketball players snag rebounds off the backboard. It was fascinating stuff. Will try and post later.

Was there ever a thought EG had $$$ on this game?
Livan Hernandez struck out 15 Braves in Game 5 of the 1997 NLCS, but umpire Eric Gregg's strike zone became almost as famous as the pitching line. Hernandez threw a three-hit complete game and Florida won 2-1 over Greg Maddux. Watch the outside calls and it becomes obvious why the game is still debated. The box score says 15 strikeouts, but the strike zone is inseparable from the memory of the performance.

Hope this one dies quickly. Corner outfielders look like they’re tied to the foul lines. The game and its rules are in a good spot right now. Teams still have freedom of how they want to construct their lineups. Thank you challenges, pitch clock, and ABS. Time to chill.

Petco and the Faithful have carried this team before. Gonna need to bring it! One pitch at a time. Stand up! LFGSD!

Especially on a clear night. Oh well, home field advantage I guess. Flush it. 👑
This is why Baseball should be played in outdoor environments whenever possible. I’d be absolutely SICK if I were a Padres fan. Unreal.
