Sometimes as farmers we buy some weird things. The box we recently purchased these industrial metal bins as “rodent proof” feed storage bins. This is going to allow us to purchase more feed at a time to keep our shipping costs as low as possible as we see rates skyrocket.
We are back in stock with an assortment of beef from our friends over at Stone Hill Farm in Plainfield, CT. We can't decide if it is burger night or taco night here on the farm.

New Haven – the time to order is now. We’re doing our first New Haven dropoff this Sunday at Wooster Square Park and the cutoff for orders is tomorrow (Tuesday) at 4pm. Don’t delay, stock your freezers today.

We love charcuterie and we’ve made a soppressata for years. But starting this week, we have a second hard slicing salami: pepperoni! We try to avoid using exclamation points in social media posts, but this is just too exciting. It’s zingy but not quite spicy, and delicious.

We’re dedicated to using all of the animals we raise and harvest, so we save our goat hides. They’re tanned by the professionals at Vermont Natural Tannery without harsh chemicals so they’re soft, stunning, and healthy.
Now that the weather and leaves are changing, it’s time to think about warm, cozy things. We’ll have our sheep and goat hides at all our markets, as well as set up at our on-farm store. Get yourself something fuzzy!

This little goat was born on pasture a few weeks ago. She is having a great time bouncing around and learning all the fun grasses to eat. She has recently learned to climb her shelter and to jump off from the top. Scary!!

Another new sausage this week. In the quest to make a spicy sausage we have tried and failed again. This is a habanero and maple breakfast sausage in small links. Very tasty but not super spicy.

Pup says beach season is over. With the incoming storm this weekend Sturbridge Farmers Market, @sturbridgefarmersmkt, has unfortunately been canceled. Our other markets this weekend are still rain or shine.

One of the breeds we have in our pig genetics is Large Blacks. One of their notable features is their large floppy ears that sometimes seem like they can't see. Their large ears actually act as sun shades blocking the sunlight giving them better vision out on sunny pastures.

Smoked hocks are back in stock. They range from 1-2 lbs. Great for adding flavor and body to soups and stews. Some of the larger ones are quite meaty and can be served as a main dish.

Can you believe there are only four more Sturbridge Farmers Markets left this year? All good things must come to an end, but that does not mean you have to start eating scary grocery store pork all winter. We want to keep getting you the product you have come to love.

New option when it comes to pigs feet. We now have them sliced/coined or whole, how we always have offered them. This new option makes portioning and cooking easier, but let us know what you prefer.

This Saturday marks our last Wooster Square market in New Haven CT. In case you don’t faithfully read our monthly newsletter, we will be back in New Haven on Oct 18th for a pre-order pickup. Come see us this Saturday and then order early and often for Oct 18th to stock up.

You asked for it, so we made it. This sweet Italian sausage is a great all around sausage. We took our iconic pork and bacon sausage base and loaded it with cracked fennel and caraway seeds. It is going fast but we will make more when we get a spare few hours.

The pigs found themselves in new pasture today. The keen eyed of you may wonder if that is a field of broadleaf dock. Yes it is. We are attempting to see if we can use this deep taproot plant to help remediate an area of heavily compacted soil. So far it seems to help.

This everyday spicy sausage is made with hot peppers from Assawaga Farm and Four Root Farm. It has a nice building heat. Nothing crazy just something you will want to eat every day.

We typically don’t like to change out market schedule once we set it but this year, we are changing things up this next month. After September 12th we will no longer be attending the Wooster Square Market in New Haven every other week.

Another new product for us this week is pre-marinated pork kabob. This is a tamari, garlic, and hot pepper marinade with our tender pork kabob cuts. Great for a quick grilling meal or just throw them in a cast iron pan.

Gotta love a snuggly pig pile. These little ones are about six weeks old and found their way into one of our newly planted pollinator habitats. Time to reinforce our fence in that area.
