I’m convinced the willingness to pay ridiculous amounts for things like Door Dash, Starbucks, etc., is partly the result of the move to wireless payments.
Not pulling out paper currency and having a physical manifestation of how much you are parting with several times a day - or reading you don’t have the $20 bill in your wallet you thought you had - makes spending money a mindless exercise.
IMO it is even worse with the “tap your phone” option. It is so mindless - you don’t even need to pull a credit card out any longer.
