Here's the article TLDR:
1/Ireland pays 35c/kWh for electricity — among the highest in the developed world. We have more renewable capacity than peak demand. Yet we waste 10-12% of it and consumers pay for it twice. A thread on why, and what to do about it. 🧵

8/Things CRU/EirGrid could do — no new legislation required:
→ Classify mining as interruptible load under the DSU framework
→ Include co-located renewable mining in the next Climate Action Plan
→ Publish a transparent annual accounting of curtailment costs passed to consumers
9/Ireland's energy challenge is no longer generation. It's utilisation. We built the grid. We paid for it. We're now paying again to waste what it generates.

The case for bitcoin mining using renewable energy has only grown stronger since this presentation.
Replying to @nialljburke
@nialljburke of @BNIreland delivered a solid schooling on energy.
Main takwaway: #bitcoin mining is not feasible in Ireland as the subsidies offered to renewable companies are too lucrative.
However, as the renewable rollout continues, the need for Bitcoin mining increases.
