Great thread by @svscarpino — go get your booster and your flu shot!
“Now is the time. You’ve got to go out and do it,” I spoke to Martin Finucane at the @BostonGlobe about the need for people to get their bivalent #COVID19 booster and their seasonal flu shot ASAP! @RockefellerFdn @PPI_Insights 1/9 bostonglobe.com/2022/10/26/n…

Great summary, @SimonovSays! This was an amazing project to be involved in — all within the first two months of being @ @truveta. Lots of more work coming down the pike!
Hot off the press! Our preprint from @truveta research looking at the relationship of COVID breakthrough infections resulting in hospitalization and underlying health conditions. Here's what we found (🧵)

This Maine & Vermont collab on the dynamical interplay of behavior and institutions is now available in open-access print at royalsocietypublishing.org/d….
We study a lot of things, including the localization of institutional support in an abstract space of behavior and cost.
Last ago we started a Maine x Vermont collab looking at the spread of adaptations to climate change. I learned a ton thanks to @tmwaring @MeredithNiles1 Nick Gotelli, Brian McGill and others.
We distilled some of our conversations in a theoretical model: arxiv.org/abs/2109.08106.

The network epidemiology of the 2014-16 Ebola epidemic shows networks connect scales of surveillance - contact tracing, local cases and national incidence - to tell a complete epidemic story.

Almost two months after acceptance (and a request, which we fulfilled, for an additional IRB waiver) it was editorially rejected. I'll never send another manuscript there.

eLife is a failed state. We had a paper accepted and the editors kept changing the requirements around data availability (we used patient-level data so we cannot release everything, the reviewers signed off as per eLife's policy).
Got a new iPhone and I need to log in to Microsoft Authenticator for two-factor authentication on internal websites. But! When I go to log on to Authenticator it wants me to open Authenticator to authenticate my use of Authenticator. What a time to be alive!
Our new preprint is out. A very cool project to work on!
Preprint release for another chapter of @balake_williams MSc thesis (1st LSD graduate!) now out in collab with @big_data_kane & @BMAlthouse.

This is excellent news, @dylanbgeorge! You've got a dream team to work with!
Honored to share that I've joined @CDC to help establish the Center for Epidemic Forecasting and Outbreak Analytics. This role is a chance to continue a lifelong mission to improve epidemic response. I'm joining w/ @cmyeaton @mlipsitch @rebeccajk13. Excited to get to work!

This is an *incredible* opportunity! Prof. Ogbunu is a fantastic mentor and his group works on some of the most important socio-biological questions of our time.
The Ogbunu Lab is hiring a "Swiss Army Quant" at the level of Research Assistant.
Let's build.
