A sheet of paper lies on a piece of Tyvek with different types of stains: tea, coffee, biro pen, ink, permanent marker and Evacon adhesive. Different gels are being tested on each of these stains, some with a barrier layer of Bondina some without, some with a glass weight on top and some without.

We’ve been able to clean off the mould spores but the mould (& water stains) remain. Often the remaining mould stains can be mistaken for active mould. This item is now safe to handle following its remediation. Image shown: after cleaning

The Collection Care North team are busy boxing some vulnerable items in the Official Publications collection. These channel tunnel plans are big and thin making them difficult to store safely. We’re making bespoke measured boxes to store them in & protect them from further damage
