🔥Wildfire Alert🔥 Interagency wildland firefighters are responding to the Brown’s Canyon Fire, a lightning-caused fire which was reported on July 27 ~9pm. The fire is located ~3.5 mi SE of Nathrop within the Brown’s Canyon Wilderness Study Area. It is currently estimated at 0.2 acres & is 0% contained. Fire behavior remains low, with smoldering/creeping through a predominantly ponderosa pine forest. While the fire currently poses little risk to life or property, it is located in steep, rugged & inaccessible terrain, creating significant safety challenges for firefighters. There is a high probability of monsoonal moisture moving into the fire area over the next 3 days, which could help further moderate fire activity. Firefighters from the Salida Ranger District and the @uswfs are actively assessing conditions, firefighter safety & opportunities to engage in direct suppression efforts. At this time, there are no anticipated impacts to life, property, or recreation in the area. However, smoke may be visible from surrounding communities & travel corridors.
