A massive new study involving over one million individuals has uncovered a powerful link between everyday heart health and long-term brain protection. Researchers have found that maintaining low cholesterol levels over a lifetime could significantly reduce the risk of developing dementia, offering a promising look at how preventative cardiovascular care doubles as cognitive armor.
Scientists analyzed genetic data to understand how natural variations that mimic the effects of common cholesterol-lowering medications, such as statins, impact the brain. Because these genetic traits naturally keep non-HDL cholesterol low throughout a person's entire life, they provide a clear and uninterrupted picture of long-term health. The findings reveal that keeping cholesterol in check prevents the gradual buildup of blockages in the blood vessels that supply oxygen and vital nutrients to the brain, directly supporting neurological resilience.
The magnitude of this protective effect is substantial and suggests that consistent cholesterol management starting in mid-life is a critical component of preserving memory and cognitive function. While short-term treatments in later years have sometimes shown mixed results, this expansive research highlights that early and sustained prevention is the true key to success. By taking proactive steps to manage cardiovascular health today, individuals are essentially building a strong, lifelong defense against cognitive decline in the decades to come.

Op-ed @statnews by @HHSGov Chief Economist and Chief Regulatory Officer @caseybmulligan:
"A 340B hospital that buys another hospital or a physician practice can register more off-campus clinics and contract pharmacies and capture more spread. Hospital off-campus clinic sites grew from about 7,000 in 2013 to more than 34,000 in 2023, often in neighborhoods that are wealthier and better-insured than that of the parent hospital. Contract pharmacies grew from roughly 1,300 in 2010 to more than 31,000 by mid-2026, dominated by the largest chains.
With greater bargaining power after acquisitions, hospital systems can negotiate higher commercial prices for health care services, which can in turn raise premiums. Newly acquired hospital outpatient sites can also add facility fees to non-drug services. The effects of 340B show up as larger, more expensive hospital systems and a bigger bill for patients, employers, and taxpayers."

Relevant data point: according to an Oliver Wyman survey, we are already close to patients trusting AI more than clinicians.
That doesn’t mean that clinicians get replaced. It does mean that patients will be more and more involved in self-direction with the help of AI.
nitter.cf/nikillinit/status/2108…
there's a common belief in healthcare among providers that most people would rather trust a doctor than AI - but I think we're not far from a tipping point here
Was interesting to see this Oliver Wyman survey of consumers and see how close we are to people trusting AI more than the clinician
On top of that the number of times where the AI and clinician disagree is increasing, with people MORE often doing something other than what the clinician directly said
This is heading for a collision course at some point

By 2030, most Americans will access healthcare neither by digging through insurance network directories, nor through Google search, nor via a primary care doc, nor through some bolt on thing your employer bought. Most people will start with chat.
Chat will have your medical records and insurance as context. Chat will answer your questions, find appropriate doctors, show prices, and schedule appointments and lab tests. Handoffs will be seamless and your doctors will always receive your full medical records from chat.
This will get more powerful as FDA permits AI to take low risk medical actions like prescribing or refilling certain drugs and making certain referrals.
Ant is testing a version of this in Guangzhou - screenshots below.
People who want to do things the old way will be able to do so. But most people will pick chat. Chat is an important part of the future of healthcare in America, like it or not.
We need Grok @bot to be able to integrate w healthcare data
the ultimate healthcare experience is:
> agent gets your data and biometrics
> agent studies medical literature on what you need
> agent books your visits/labs/meds
> you get better

At #CellCoast2026, Moffitt’s Sameh Gaballa, MD (@samehgaballa), shares the latest updates on bispecific antibodies in lymphoma and their evolving role in treatment.
Key takeaways:
➡️ The future of DLBCL treatment is moving toward chemotherapy-free approaches, including bispecific antibodies, novel combinations and CAR T-cell therapies.
➡️ Surovatamig (AZD0486), an investigational bispecific antibody, is showing promising activity in relapsed/refractory follicular lymphoma, with a 95% overall response rate and 85% complete response rate in an early study cohort.
➡️ Ongoing clinical trials are evaluating surovatamig across B-cell malignancies, including follicular lymphoma and large B-cell lymphoma, as researchers explore its potential in earlier treatment settings.

Glad that someone noticed this. R&D productivity is extremely important. If we had more financial resources, I could start a program for pretty much every high-value protein target using multiple therapeutic modalities at once. AI is no longer the moat. The moat is operational efficiency, monkey and human patient resource. And the real bottleneck is in the clinic.
