Food for thought: I just got a $50k quote for a new electric roller. It’s a simple machine with a lithium battery, yet it costs more than two electric UVs (like the Club Car Carryall 500) that use the exact same battery tech.
The industry leaders are at risk of becoming the "Kodak" of turf equipment. They are pricing themselves out of the market while ignoring the real game-changer: Autonomy.
Imagine a fleet of small, autonomous rollers hitting the greens at 3 AM as the dew settles, or
a "companion" roller that follows you while you change holes and set tees. If someone can deliver a fleet of autonomous rollers for $100k, the current players will be nothing more than a Wikipedia entry.
Did we manage to go through 8 versions of @RainBirdCorp Stratus without noticing that 270°arc Precip. Rate was calculated wrong?!! 🤔 It multiplies 360° arc with 1.5, should be 1.33! In this video it should be 20.23, but Stratus calculates 22.82!!! Cirus Pro uses correct formula
How classic Iceland this is: I manage one of the courses they played, and my wife is the GM if the Hotel they staied at 🤣 "stunning championship condition" they say. You should come and try it

Been spending the last 13 seasons applying only what the grass needs, no more, no less. Stop spending money and effort on stuff you don't need #mlsn

July starts with a nice low of 2.1°C. Club championship today plus full tee times until 9PM. Only 9 people with a booke tee time after that. Just another summers day in Iceland :)

Are wetting agents useful on native soil fairway turf? Yes, especially if they contain creeping bentgrass.

Love having a great crew and great facilities so they can kick back after a good week, play pool and darts with beers and pizzas. Lives good
We had a week of great weather by Icelandic standards. Broke 20°C, and saw 24hrs mean temps higher than 16°C!! Shocking stuff. That resulted in 4,340 rounds of golf played over our two courses, or 620 rounds per day. Icelanders love golf and double digits on the Celsius scale
This is why we lean on fescues here in Iceland. The left double rows are creeping bents still completely dormant. Then a row of fescue/bent mixes or pure fescue, a border of chewing fescue and then colonial bent that's still dormant. Which would you go for if you open tomorrow?

The one thing every AD/GM/manager/coach needs to fully understand is that injury prevention begins in the weight room and ends on the field. Investing in your field and field managers the way you do weight rooms and strength coaches pays ten fold in the success of a team

After 7 years of R&D, the turf sensor research we've been pursuing is finalizing coming to GreenKeeper. Measure turf density, N status, and pest and drought stress in GK CIS. Create prescription fertilizer maps, adjust irrigation runtimes, redirect carts, spot treat pests, etc.
