What if we could detect an oncoming hallucination and intervene at precisely the right moment? As we continue introducing our 2026 grant awardees, we’re proud to recognize the researchers working to make this a reality: Dr. Roza Vlasova and Dr. Guorong Wu of the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Psychiatry, recipients of a $101,410 Foundation of Hope Impact Grant. Their study will use EEG recordings and advanced computational methods to identify brain-activity patterns that signal when a person with schizophrenia may be especially vulnerable to experiencing auditory hallucinations. The team will also develop a prototype designed to detect these warning signs in real time. This work seeks to lay the foundation for future treatments that deliver brain stimulation not only to the right place but at exactly the right moment. Please join us in supporting Drs.
