I’m proud to announce my new baby: a guide through the moral maze of modern football. It’s emotional, irrational, biased and occasionally hazy on facts, so just like a real football fan! See link in bio for details #CPFC
After a fabulous afternoon at The Amex, you might fancy an opportunity to discuss it with Palace Superfan @kevinhunterday and our very own @KieranMaguire in Brighton.
And all for just £20 to @BHSamaritans a worthy local charity. What A Bargain.
🚨 Roberto De Zerbi on Brighton’s remarkable start to the season:
“People see Brighton second in the table, scoring more goals than anyone, and they ask, ‘How do they keep doing this? They sell their best players every summer.’
I understand the question. I worked there. I asked it myself sometimes.
When Alexis Mac Allister and Moisés Caicedo left, people outside the club looked at the money and thought Brighton had won the transfer window. But as a coach, you don’t look at the money. You look at your midfield and think, ‘Okay, who is going to play on Saturday?’
I remember conversations with the people at the club. You would ask about a player and they wouldn’t just give you a name. They knew his strengths, his weaknesses, what he needed to improve, how he would fit into the team. Sometimes they had been following him long before anybody was talking about selling the player he might replace.
And that is the difference.
At many clubs, the manager leaves and suddenly everybody wants to start again. New ideas, new players, new recruitment department, new project. Six months later, the manager is gone and they start another project. Brighton don’t do that.
Of course, Graham Potter, myself and Fabian Hurzeler are different coaches. We don’t see every situation in exactly the same way. But Brighton know what kind of football they want. They don’t appoint a manager and then ask the entire club to become something else for him. They find someone who can build on what is already there.
I used to tell people that at Brighton, you are not arriving to build a house on an empty piece of land. The foundations are there. Your job is to make the house better. And when you leave, they don’t knock it down.
Look at them now. They lose players, people predict a difficult season, and then another young player comes into the team and plays like he has been there for five years. You think, ‘Where did they find this one?’ And before you have learned his name, somebody is already discussing how much a bigger club will pay for him.
But the beautiful thing is that Brighton supporters can enjoy these players without feeling that the whole club will disappear when one of them leaves.
You can buy a very good footballer. You can even buy eleven. What is much harder to buy is a club where the scouting, the coaching, the recruitment and the football all make sense together.
Brighton have built that. And I think some much bigger clubs should stop asking which Brighton player they can sign next, and start asking why Brighton keep producing teams they want to take players from.”

Anthony Kalik, Leon Krekovič and Luka Vuškovič - old friends from the Hajduk Split days 🤝🙂↕️
Sad in Sussex tonight. 😪
Doug Loft didn't play a huge part in the Albion story, but he was an important member of a squad that helped breath life into the club in The Withdean Years.
R.I.P.
We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former captain, Doug Loft, who passed away at the age of 39 following a medical emergency.
We send our love to Doug's family, friends and former teammates at this difficult time.
RIP Doug. 🤍

This Aston Villa fan showing off his seat at yesterdays game. Think it's fair to say that this might easily be the worst seat in the Premier League, you can barely see past the goals...
How on earth are they even allowed to sell a seat from here, massive respect to the lad for going to the game, but that's just shameful from the club...
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The photo is from a humorous fan post and shows a non-ticketed walkway/service area at Villa Park, not a sold spectator seat. The original poster called it "not the greatest seat.. but a seat nonetheless."

Thank you to the 2,288 Seagulls who made the trip north today. Incredible support! 💙🤍
Briefly left Mr. Clough, when he went to Leeds, to stay in Sussex and lay the foundations for @BHAFC to start the climb to Division One.
Very highly regarded down here.
R.I.P.
Remembering the great Peter Taylor who died on 4th October 1990.
He was the man who spotted the potential in players and put the teams together, Brian Clough managed them, Peter is sometimes overlooked and his foresight that mixed old heads with raw talent and moulded regional average teams into champions of England and Europe.
RIP and thank you.

It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good. As promised I’ve given the appearance fees* (and a top up from my PoF account) for talking Manchester City x 114 to @samaritans.
Men in particular are hopeless at looking after what’s going on in their heads. In the words of The Rifles song “and I smile when you’re there and I cry when I’m all alone”. Samaritans are there for you in those moments.
*Most don’t pay anything BTW.
