Hard work sure tastes sweet! 🍩 I’m so proud of our mathematicians for their perseverance throughout Unit 2! They worked hard to tackle challenging word problems, and our class exceeded our 80% mastery goal with an impressive 86% mastery! 📚👏

Today in our decoding reading skill group, students practiced building, blending, and reading patterned words. We then applied those skills in a passage, identifying patterns and decoding each word as we read! 📚🔤

So excited for this week’s STEM journal! 🐻🌦️ We’re blending science, reading, and writing as students help Teddy the Teddy Bear dress for different types of weather. Students will design weather gear for Teddy and practice writing complete sentences to explain their thinking! ✏️

A little sneak peek into our math block! ✏️🧮 We’re using Taped Problems to build addition fact fluency through quick recall and repeated practice. During centers, students get individualized fact practice on Seesaw based on the skills they’re still working to master! 💛

A little sneak peek into two of our reading small groups today! 📚💛 One group worked on identifying the character, setting, and plot in a realistic fiction text. Another practiced sound-spelling mapping with closed syllable pattern words in Elkonin boxes.

Every student deserves instruction tailored to their needs. 💚 Uninterrupted time with students one-on-one and in small groups allows me to identify their needs, target instruction, and help them make meaningful academic gains. And Sally makes it a little more fun! 🐌

Today in 1st Grade, we explored 3-D shapes and their attributes—faces, edges, and vertices! Students used Play-Doh and toothpicks to build 3-D shapes while discussing their attributes. 📐✨ #FirstGrade #MathInAction

Our class pet plant, Fred, got a fun makeover today! 🌱💚 Students used their PBIS points in our class store to buy decorations for him—monster faces, silly faces, and ladybugs! They loved making Fred’s home a little more colorful! 🐞

Today’s Wonders lesson was all about why reading matters and why we are all readers! 📚 After sharing one of my favorite books, Jabari Jumps, my students discussed, wrote, and illustrated about their own favorite books! 📝

Today we had a book tasting in our café-themed classroom! 📚☕️ Students explored books from different genres, wordless books, and so many unique styles. We had so much fun “tasting” new books and writing reviews to recommend favorites to others!
