A lovely capture of Fred Trueman bowling for Yorkshire v Essex at Brentwood, June 14th 1951. In his first full season he took 90 wickets at 20.57. His progress was interrupted by two years national service before he returned full time in 1954

One of the finest of all Victorian cricket paintings. The woman over on the right - who seems strangely agitated, comforted by another - gives the painting a mysterious, unsettled feel.
'Village Cricket', an oil painting by John Ritchie dating from around 1855. Unlike many paintings of the Victorian era, it shows the game warts and all as it would probably have been for most people who played it at that time

A sad day for cricket with the loss of a genuine great. Garry Sobers toasts the crowd after West Indies' crushing innings and 226 runs win at Lord's on August 27th 1973. Sobers signed off his last Test in England with 150* and six catches, equalling the then Test record for a non-wicketkeeper (Patrick Eagar)

One of England's all-time greatest captains, Ben Stokes, has decided to retire from international cricket at the end of this Test match. Ben, you have been the most inspirational captain, leader and legend this team could have ever hoped for. We love you so much and wish you all the best in your retirement ❤️ England will never be the same again.

The anniversary of the Ball of the Century was just 3 days ago, unfortunately Brendan Cooper's book didn't arrive in @HomeOfCricket library in time but still grateful to have it, going on his previous book should be a great read! #cricket #cricketbooks
