Man this hits home!
People may forget what we do.... But people will never forget how we make them feel!

Heard a song called "He Won't" at church this morning, and it hit deep. I've spent most of my life around baseball, and one thing I know for certain... The storms are coming. Slumps. Injuries. Rejection. Disappointment. And those storms don't stop when your playing days end. Life brings its own. Faith was never a promise that life would be easy. It's the foundation that holds when everything around you shakes. You can't control the storm, but you can choose what you're built upon. The storms will come. But He won't fail. 🙏

Pat Murphy says becoming a father completely changed the way he coached, and now every player he views and coaches as somebody else’s son “It’s got to be real, man. You can’t just say it. You’ve got to live it. When it’s about your kid, when you’re raising kids by yourself, you’re clueless, man. You don’t know what you’re doing. I don’t know what I’m doing. I didn’t have that kind of, my parents were way older than me, so I don’t know how to parent. I don’t know what I’m doing, but it’s really important to me.” “And I started thinking about it like, every kid I coach is somebody’s Kai Joseph. You know what I mean? Every kid I coach, they have parents who love their kid the way I love my kid.” “Wow, I’ve got to be a little mindful how I treat these guys. I’ve got to be a little mindful about, like, it’s my job.” “This profession isn’t about the wins and losses. This profession is about, how do I impact this person?

"It's a lot less stressful not coaching.. It's important to sit back and enjoy things and that's probably the biggest reason that I retired.. Coaching isn't a job it's a way of life.. Don't get me wrong I loved it but there's a lot that you give up" ~ Coach Saban #PMSLive

This weekend, our family experienced an unimaginable tragedy. My brother-in-law, Fed, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind my sister and their three amazing boys. There are no words to describe the heartbreak of losing a husband, a partner, and a father so suddenly. In the midst of trying to process this devastating loss, my sister is now facing the overwhelming reality of navigating life as a solo parent and a single-income household, all while helping her boys cope with the loss of their dad. No family should have to face this kind of heartbreak, and no one should have to worry about how they will manage financially while trying to put the pieces of their lives back together. We are asking for your help in supporting my sister and her boys during this incredibly painful and uncertain time. Any donation, no matter the amount, will help ease some of the financial burden and allow them the time and space they need to grieve, heal, and begin navigating this new reality. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping our family in your thoughts means more than you know. Thank you for showing up for my sister and my nephews when they need it most. Our family is heartbroken, but we are so grateful for the love and support surrounding them during this unimaginable time. gofundme.com/f/support-the-l…

Some of the most talented ⚾️ players I've ever seen never made it. And some with far less talent found a way. After 20+ years in this game, I've learned something. Talent gets you noticed. Discipline keeps you improving. Consistency separates you. And how you respond when things aren't going your way? That reveals who you really are. Your ceiling might be determined by your ability. But your floor is built by your habits. Build your floor. Chase your ceiling.

Players: Somebody with less talent than you is making it harder to leave him out of the lineup. He shows up early. Runs hard when nobody’s timing him. Takes coaching without an excuse. Talent opens the door. Your habits decide how long you stay. It's Monday, and a hungrier dog is coming for your bone.. GET to work 💪

Nick Saban says his mother taught him the mindset that eventually shaped Alabama’s dynasty, it’s not about beating the other guy, the competition is always you “Accountability was really important. If you had a job to do and you didn’t do it exactly right, you were going to do it over again. So you learned how to be accountable. One thing my parents always emphasized was it wasn’t about winning or beating the other guy. It was about, did you do it as well as you were capable of doing it?” “We won 30 games in a row when I was in high school and won a state championship, and that was never good enough. I asked my mom once, ‘Why is it never good enough?’ She said, ‘It’s not about winning the game. It’s not about beating the other guy. It’s about: did you do it as well as you’re capable of doing it?’” “So that makes you kind of a perfectionist, because the competition is always you. It’s always you.” “The other thing that instilled in me was I never had what I call relief syndrome. It’s kind of human nature that if you do something of significance, you think you’re supposed to be able to rest on your laurels.” “Players would win a big game and say, ‘Can we have Monday off practice? We get rewarded for winning this big game.’ Well, I’m thinking about how we’re going to win the next game. Did we play well enough in that game to win the next game, and what do we need to improve on?” “You can never be perfect, but you’re always trying to close the gap on perfect. I think great competitors, whether it’s Kobe Bryant, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, those guys could always take the next challenge. It didn’t matter how much they won or what they did.” Pasted text

Your mentality is what's gonna take u where u want to go. Don't bend, break or crumble. Pressure is what's needed for u to develop into what & who u want to be. Apply it & don't allow the world's pressure to provoke u. Your mentality will be the weapon u need. Let's go. #CoachPrime

Talent gets you there. Process keeps you there. Nick Saban said it best: “You must focus on the things that have made us good all season long.” Championship teams don't chase the moment. They live the process. 🎥 Watch the clip.

Thanksgiving Day. 2013. I was staring out the window of my condo in San Juan, Puerto Rico, looking at the end of my playing career. I was there for winter ball. Still chasing it. Still doing everything I could to keep playing. But my arm was working against me, and deep down, I knew. That’s a tough moment when you’ve given your heart and soul to baseball. I wasn’t ready to leave the game. I just had to face the fact that my place in it might change. That day, I found Prep Baseball while searching online. A few months later, I got an interview. I had no idea where it would lead. I just knew I still had something to give. To the player working through an injury or wondering what comes next: keep chasing what’s in front of you. Give it everything you’ve got. And if the path changes, remember this: Your playing days can end without your purpose in the game ending with them.

Many want the success but few understand the sacrifice. Success doesn't just ask what you're willing to do. It asks what you're willing to give up. You can't chase extraordinary results while protecting an ordinary level of commitment. 🎥 Bleacherreport

David Wright explains how to identify a selfish teammate “To me, that’s what shows everybody what you’re made of. Anybody can smile and have a good time and enjoy the game when things are going their way and you’re having success.” “But it takes a special person to be a good teammate. To be the first one to high-five the guy when they do something good, even though you’ve had three strikeouts that game.” “What face do you put on in the locker room when you got four hits and the team lost compared to when you went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts and the team won? Happy-hit guy. Happy-hit guy is a term that we use to this day.” “I think that differentiates between the true great teammates and the winners and the guys that are out there trying to do it for themselves. It’s just dealing with failures, dealing with adversity, and it’s a small sample size of what you’re going to get in real life.”
