@Shaq, I know you’ve been hopping into comment sections all over the internet coming for folks who criticized that honorary badge, so you may pull up over here too, but I’m going to say what I have tonight say anyway. You’re too old, too rich, too accomplished, and too connected to be this easily impressed by a souvenir badge and a photo op. Under the racist Trump administration the Justice Department’s civil-rights enforcement infrastructure has been gutted, veteran attorneys have walked out the door, police-misconduct enforcement has been dramatically weakened, and the federal government’s approach to civil rights has been fundamentally redirected. Yet here you are, skinning and grinning beside Kash Patel accepting an honorary FBI badge like somebody just gave you another championship ring. C’mon man. It’s ceremonial. It gives you no authority. No investigative power. No sworn-agent status. It’s essentially political theater with a toy attached. Bruh, the optics are bad. For a Black man with your enormous platform to lend your celebrity to the sycophantic, anti-Black leadership of this FBI at this particular moment is wild. Black celebrity should not become a prop that helps sanitize institutions and officials that denigrate Black people and refuse to protect their rights. You have collected championships, MVP trophies, endorsement checks, degrees, businesses, and more money than most people will see in several lifetimes. You didn’t need Kash Patel’s honorary trinket for your résumé, Dr. O’Neal. Some photo opportunities simply aren’t worth the picture. And this was one of them. 🤦🏽‍♂️
